• Heroin is classified as a depressant but more specifically an opiate• MOST addictive and DANGEROUS drug
• Can be snorted but is usually injected; very easy to overdose when injected
• Induces a euphoric state, relaxation, and relieves pain
• Diseases such as HIV, Hep B and C can be contracted from sharing used syringes
• Can often be cut(mixed) with other dangerous substances
• Users build up a tolerance over time and their bodies become physically addicted to the drug.
• Withdrawal symptoms include: sweating, anxiety, depression, insomnia, cold sweats, severe muscle and bone aches, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, fever and involuntary spasms, hallucinations
