General Info

AUSTRIA IS A SMALL BUT BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY IN THE HEART OF EUROPE. THERE IS SPECTACULAR

SCENERY AROUND EVERY CORNER: VINEYARDS, ANCIENT CASTLES AND VENERABLE ABBEYS OVERLOOKING

THE DANUBE, WOODED HILLS RISING OUT OF THE LUSH FARMLAND, LAKES DOTTED WITH SAILBOATS AND

RINGED BY SOARING MOUNTAINS, ALPINE PEAKS AND THEIR ICY WORLD OF GLACIERS REACHING FOR THE

SKY.

THE TOWNS ARE AS VARIED AS THE COUNTRYSIDE AROUND THEM: HISTORIC CITIES WHERE

ARCHITECTURAL MASTERPIECES FROM THREE OR FOUR CENTURIES FACE ONE ANOTHER ACROSS NARROW

Facts

AUSTRIA, OFFICIALLY THE REPUBLIC OF AUSTRIA IS A LANDLOCKED COUNTRY OF ROUGHLY 8.4

MILLION PEOPLE IN CENTRAL EUROPE. IT IS BORDERED BY GERMANY AND SLOVAKIA AND HUNGARY

TO THE EAST, SLOVENIA AND ITALY TO THE SOUTH, AND SWITZERLAND AND LIECHTENSTEIN TO THE

WEST. THE TERRITORY OF AUSTRIA COVERS 83,872 SQUARE KILOMETERS AND HAS AN ALPINE

TEMPERATURE AND CLIMATE. AUSTRIA'S TERRAIN IS HIGHLY MOUNTAINOUS DUE TO THE PRESENCE

OF THE ALPS; ONLY 32% OF THE COUNTRY IS BELOW 500 METERS (1,640 FT), AND ITS HIGHEST

POINT IS 3,797 METERS (12,457 FT). THE MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION SPEAKS GERMAN,

WHICH IS THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE. ANOTHER LOCAL OFFICIAL LANGUAGES ARE CROATIAN,

HUNGARIAN AND SLOVENE.

AIESEC IS PRESENT IN FIVE CITIES – GRAZ, LINZ, INNSBRUCK, SALZBURG AND VIENNA – WITH 4 ENTITIES IN VIENNA. THE MC OFFICE IS ALSO ALLOCATED IN VIENNA.

MC structure

CURRENTLY THE MC OF AIESEC IN AUSTRIA CONSISTS OF ONE PRESIDENT AND SEVEN VPS

WHICH ARE SPLIT UP BY PROGRAM AND FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES. THE MAIN ROLES

ARE OG GCDP & GIP, IC GIP & GCDP , TM, LCD, FINANCE & LEGAL, CR, PR &

MARKETING. NEXT TO THE MAIN ROLES OTHER ROLES KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT,

ALUMNI MANAGEMENT, INTERNAL COMMUNICATION, INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AMONG ALL VPS. ADDITIONALLY TO THESE ROLES FACILITATION

ACTIVITIES ARE SPLIT UP AMONG THE VPS AND NSTS. ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE MC ARE

WORKING FULL TIME, BEING EXPECTED TO INVEST A MINIMUM 40 HOURS/WEEK IN

AIESEC.

THE OPEN POSITIONS FOR THE SECOND ROUND ARE: MC VP IGCDP, MC VP OGX, MC VP PRM, MC VP FINANCE & LEGAL.

Financial/Legal structure

AIESEC IN AUSTRIA IS, ACCORDING TO AUSTRIAN LAW, AN ASSOCIATION. EVERY LC RESEMBLES AN OWN INDEPENDENT ASSOCIATION. THE MEMBERS OF AIESEC IN AUSTRIA ARE BOTH, PHYSICAL

MEMBERS AS WELL AS THE LCS.

THE MC IS FINANCED BY THREE MAIN SOURCES OF INCOME:

NATIONAL PARTNERS: COMPANIES WHO ARE PARTICIPATING IN NATIONAL ACTIVITIES LIKE CONFERENCES AND/OR ARE TN TAKERS, WHICH HAVE BEEN RAISED BY THE MC

MC SERVICING FEE: A FIXED ANNUAL FEE WHICH IS SPLIT UP AMONG THE LCS AND GUARANTEES BASIC SERVICES AND MINIMUM EXISTENCE FOR THE MC

EXCHANGE FEE: IN OCTOBER 2010, A NEW ADDITIONAL MODEL HAS BEEN INTRODUCED WHICH YIELDS 30% OF EVERY INCOME DONE WITH EXCHANGE IN THE COUNTRY FOR THE MC. ON

THE OTHER SIDE, THE MC ALSO ONLY GETS 30% OF THE EXCHANGE INCOME FROM MC PARTNERS (30% FOR THE SERVICING LC AND 40% FOR THE RESERVES).

IN THE MC TEAM, THE CULTURE IS ONE OF HARD WORK, INNOVATION AND SPEED, ACTING UPON THE NEEDS OF THE MARKET AND TRYING TO SATISFY THESE NEEDS WHILE MAINTAINING A VERY HIGH

LEVEL OF QUALITY. WHILE BEING IN THIS TEAM, YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO REPRESENT AIESEC IN DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS, A LOT OF STRATEGY DELIVERY AND IMPLEMENTATION ANALYSIS AND A

GREAT EXERCISE OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

MC living situation

MC MEMBERS ARE PROVIDED WITH GREAT LIVING STANDARDS CONSISTING OF ACCOMMODATION (2 MC FLATS AT THE MOMENT – EXPECT TO SHARE A ROOM DURING THE TERM), FREE PUBLIC

TRANSPORTATION FOR ONE YEAR IN VIENNA (STARTING FROM 1ST OF JULY), CELL PHONE COSTS ARE COVERED, VERY WELL EQUIPPED MC OFFICE AND A DECENT SALARY OF 340 EUROS PER MONTH,

WHICH IS SUFFICIENT TO COVER LIVING COSTS IN VIENNA.

MC Transition timeline

1st part of MC VP transition will start from MCVP current from 10th of March until the 1st of May, this part of the transition will be done online and is a general

preparation about country reality and Functional areas.

Euroxpro in Portugal is a important part of the transition (conference fee will be covered, depending of number of MC members there is possibility that small part

of the fee will be covered personaly; transportation to the conference is not covered by MC budget)

Latest expected date for the MC elect team to be physically in Vienna is 10th of May. There is no financial support for period from 10th of May until 1st of June, In

June there will be financial support provided for the MC elect team of max 340 Euros per person. For the Period from 10th of May until 1st of July cell phone costs as

well as public transportation costs will not be covered.
