1.0 INTRODUCTION

This report is an account of AIESEC CUC’s activities spanning from 1st June 2012 to 24th June, 2013.

LC CUC was started on a note of high motivation and hope from EBs selected by the LCP help run

the lc. The team members were all poised to put their hands on deck to get the LC moving towards

growth. Upon returning from the National Planning Conference, the next one month was devoted to

building a comprehensive and workable year plan for the Local Committee.

1.1 THE EB TEAMThe formulation of the team was by selection by the LCP where we were given a schedule by the Mc

to meet. We began our term as EBs with a major restructure of the entire structure and operations of

the LC right from the EB level. The structure of the EB team which so far, was made up of the LCP

and LCVP F/A, LCVP GCDPi, LCVP @xp, LCVP BD, LCVP GIPi, and LCVP OGX. After this

restructure however, our VP responsible for @XP and GIPi could not be available to act in their roles

and there was a consensus to managers to take up their roles. After six months on the job there was

an evaluation of the team by the mc before the right to continue was approved. The team started well

with coordination and team direction until the LCP had to move to tema for national service, this had a

major toll on the team spirit of the team especially when the few available ones had to perform the

roles of their absent colleagues and as such the lcp had more Knowledge on the Job then any one on

the team.

2.0 TALENT MANAGEMENT (TM)

2.1 TM PROCESSThis portfolio has been one of our dysfunctional area. We have hadchallenges of getting really competent people to handle that area since Evathe person selected to fill that role left the job within the first 2 months of thequarter due to personal reasons making the area blank. Since then we havebeen straggling to fill that role till Selorm of Aiesec Cucg took up the role inthe last quarter but even him we still had less of him since distance took thebetter of him. The TM processes include; Talent Planning, Talent Promotion,Talent Induction, Talent Selection and Pipeline Management. The TalentPlanning was done during our planning. After membership review was donethe membership of the LC stood at 21 but even with that, we EBs virtuallyworked alone during the first quarter because all members were on vacation. With membership standing at 21, it meant the LC had to recruit 35 newmembers to function in the various roles.

2.2 LEADERSHIP ROLESThe LC had 32 leadership roles for the period under review with appropriatejob descriptions and measures of success. Below are the details of theleadership roles.

2.4 AIESEC CONFERENCES

The LC was represented in all the conferences held in Ghana by EBs and somemember that is National Planning Conference, National Training and MotivationSeminar, National Leadership Development Seminar. Dominic the VP OGX alsorepresented the LC at the recently held AFROXLDS in Ethiopia. It is also a fact thatwe always have limited number at national conferences for the fact that they areorganised to suit the calendars of the other LCs meaning when ever theconferences take place we are either about to write mid semester exams or finialexams as such we wont be able to go with a lot of members even those who gohave to sacrifice their exams as the conference is once in a year. This deprives thelc a share in the national development hence our development goes down.Conferences help members and even motivate them with the right skills toactually know and learn from people from other lc. Referring from the past CUCperformed well because they had their own conferences just for the lc now thatwe have expansion who also have our calendar too it will be prudent to go back toour old ways of having our own national conferences.

3.0 BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

This portfolio hasn’t been stable that is from the first quarter the vpresponsible was on Exchange in Germany and when she came it was difficultfor her to know in-depth about the Portfolio. This did not stop her fromworking we had some deals with some externals where we played roles inconference management by joining China Europe international Business Schoolin organising China meets Africa we had the former President of Ghanaattending. We played an important role to the success of the conference suchthat we were awarded a certificate as the organiser.http://www.ceibs.edu/CMAforum/ We also were able to get our old partnersback. We also opened our platform for some of the cuc level 400 students todo their internship with us after which their work was assessedby the school.

The portfolio which over sees projects and icx of AIESEC CUC has made some

strides in the past AIESEC year. This report is going to be divided into two

major sub-headings, thus , projects and ICX. AIESEC CUC has mainly 5

projects namely; ASK ,YES, All Green, Melody Seed and switch.

PROJECTS.

1ST QUARTER REPORT

In this past AIESEC year, AIESEC CUC has run our projects firstly within the

Kraboa –Coaltar vicinity of the Suhum district. The main idea was to run all 5

projects at this locality in order to improve and educate members of this

community. AIESEC CUC team members along with some exchange participants

went to this community which they spent 10 days living and commingling with

the people .

PROJECT ANALYSIS IN THE KRABOA-COALTAR DISTRICT

ASK Project- The project team members run successful sessions in the

communities Basic and Senior High Schools. It was also run in the communities

church which attracted both students, teachers and elders of the two

communities. Through the education on HIV/AIDS in the community , a

patient living with HIV was given both financial and moral support from the

exchange participants and members from AIESEC CUC

Page 17: Aiesec cuc final report 12/13

YES PROJECT-this project sort to educate the people living in this community on new andimproved ways of farming ,packaging ,selling ,branding and storing their farmproduce, this was because most of the people were farmers and these were thechallenges that the team observed through conducting a thorough backgroundresearch on the district. The team was able to help the three communitiesform a union which involved representatives from each farming community tobe stakeholders in order to drive the interest of the other farmers along withthose of the community as a whole. The project got the community also produceoranges and as a matter of fact the community is able to export their produceto Sweden. Due to the Yes project we have been able to convince some Alumnusto set up a factory where their oranges are processed and exported to apartnerCompany in Sweden.

The new focus of the Yes project isTo focus on national service personnelBy training them to be entrepreneurs

Page 18: Aiesec cuc final report 12/13

All Green- With this project, the team members sort to address theprevailing problem of improper disposal of waste in the community. Thereforethey organized a massive clean up exercise which the exchange participants,AIESEC CUC members and some members of the community partook in. The AllGreen team also run sessions in the schools, churches and community center onways of promoting proper waste management and risks associated indiscriminatewaste disposal both on the environment and health status of the people as awhole.at the moment we have a partnership with EnvironmentalProtection Agency who will train the team fund our outreachand even pay team for their work

Melody Seed-This project is al about using music and theater arts to deliveran information or train people. In the community, the team undertook a surveyin the community an came to the realization that the prevalence of malariawas very alarming. Therefore the exchange participants along with membersof AIESEC CUC , used a mode of drama to educate the people in thecommunity on the signs, symptoms and treatment of malaria. This drama wasenacted by some pupils from the community’s basic school with the assistanceof the teachers. A durbar was organized for the drama to beacted in order to educate the people in the community.Subsequent events took place in 8 different schools here in Accra.

2ND QUARTER REPORT

The 2nd quarter saw projects undertaken in some Basic and a Senior High school in and

around the Kaneshie. Schools visited were, St Peter Claver School, Holy Family School,

PROJECT ANALYSIS FOR PROJECTS IN AND AROUND KANESHIE.

ASK Project- The project sought to add to the broaden the scope of the students in St Peter

Claver, Kaneshie Cluster of Schools, Abossey Okai Basic School and Holy Family. This

was done through the education of the current HIV/AIDS prevalence in Sub-Saharan Africa

and some regions in Ghana. Vedios as well as data from the Ghana Aids commission,

internet and other sources

YES Project- The team run some sessions in the Kaneshie Senior Technical High School

to educate and psyche the students to take up entrepreneurial skills seriously in order earn a

living and make something profitable out of their lives. The teams concern was to curb the

high rate of unemployment in the country from the secondary level especially because the

unchanging fact remains that not all the students in the Secondary level have the passion to

pursue higher learning or even qualify to gain admission into Universities. Therefore,

discovering other profitable making money ventures puts them in the right stead.

Page 20: Aiesec cuc final report 12/13

switch Project- This project run sessions in Grace &Glory Nursery and Crèche in order to

and simple. The team exposed these pupils to the photo shop, calculator and some

children’s computer games with they had turns in playing.
