Coverage

AP XLDS 2012 in Japan:

The Asia-Pacific eXchange and Leadership Development Seminar (AP XLDS) is

AIESEC’s biggest international event for the Asia-Pacific network. Held from the 16th to the

22nd

of March in magical Japan, the conference boasted over 200 delegates from the AP

region and around the globe. After the Opening Ceremony on the 16th, the attending

AIESECers showcased their cultures at the Global Village, Yoyogi Park, Tokyo.

Symposium 3.11, held on the 18th of March and inspired by the Great East Japan

Earthquake of March 2011, allowed AIESECers to understand more on how to deal with

emergencies through wise, swift action. Perhaps the highlight of the conference was on

the 21st with the Japan Night that invited the delegates to experience the unique Japan

culture complete with kawaii idol groups, manga, anime and delicious sushi straight from

its birthplace.

EuroXpro 2012 in Greece:

EuroXpro is the biggest international conference held for the Western Europe and Northern American region. A six-day

conference, it’s one of the five biggest international conferences hosted by AIESEC annually. This year’s conference

was held in the historically unparalleled Athens, Greece and brought together over 350 delegates from 50 different

countries. With an agenda that included setting up regional strategies and organizational goals with executives and

Boards of Directors from each country, the conference was set into action on the morning of the 17th of March. With a

Global Village hosting over 500 delegates, at the Athens Technopolis, a Global External Relations and Finance Summit

and IM Summit, the conference provided a truly unique and well-tailored experience for each individual delegate.

AIESEC Iberoamerican Leadership Congress 2012:

Held for the International Global Network, the Iberoamerican Leadership Congress is the annual international

conference where selected AIESECers from all around the world come to meet, acquire leadership tools,

develop strategies for the problems of the organization and their own countries. Held with delegates from 18

different countries, this year’s conference was hosted, for the first time, in end-of-the-world Chile. A six-day

conference, the ILC was held from the 15th to the 21st of March. At the conference’s Youth to Business Forum,

the delegates got to improve on their entrepreneur outlook by interacting, first-hand, with Latin American

business people. And with music, dancing and food from all around the world, the delegates got to experience

the unique Global Village experience with over 200 of their peers in an enriching, multicultural experience.

AfroXLDS 2012 in

Mozambique:

With 200 delegates from over 20 countries from

Africa and around the globe, AfroXLDS is the

largest annual gathering for the African Region

AIESECers. The 2012 AfroXLDS was held in the

coastal city of Maputo, Mozambique from the

26th of March to the 1st of April. The

conference’s focus was to bring themes of youth

entrepreneurship and leadership skill

development. With a Global Village event and

the Youth to Business Forum on the 26th of

March, the conference concluded with an

Official Dinner on the 30th. The delegates were

also treated to some fascinating study tours of

Maputo’s Fort, Cathedral and a trip to the

tropical island of Inhaca.

MENA XLDS 2012 in

Morocco:

For the Middle East and Northern Africa AIESECers,

MENA XLDS promised and delivered an exquisite

experience. Held for the second time in its birthplace of

Marrakesh, Morocco this year (the first being in 2007)

the conference was held from the 11th to the 17th of

March and brought together AIESECers from around the

world to experience multicultural diversity. The pre-

conference study tours included an exciting hike to the

High Atlas Mountains, watching the sunset from the

dunes of stunning Marrakesh and a camel-ride across

the Sahara. With six theme parties, a Global Village and

a Gala Party the event provided an unforgettable

experience for its delegates.

LCP Positions

AIESEC

Alexandria Internationally

week ago, LCP AIESEC Alexandria, Mina Shakhloul, along with MCVP IGIP elect, Kareem AbdelAzeem took part in one of the most

extraordinary international conferences of the year, the EuroXpro in Greece which gathers around the leadership body of AIESEC from around 111 countries around the world to discuss and put the organizational basis and set its headings. In this interview, Mina takes us back to share his experience and sheds the light on how important it is to have our LC positioned there.

Q. Can you describe briefly to our members what EuroXpro is, who were the attendees and facis, and why it is important to position ourselves there?

A. EuroXpro 2012 in Greece contributed significantly to the organizational performance leading the change and brought us closer to the realization of the 2015 vision. With our outstanding results & proactivity, we will offer impactful experiences to all our stakeholders. Of whom attended this conference were MCVPs current and Elect, and LCPs Current and Elect from all Regions. It was very Important to position AIESEC Alexandria in this conference specially that it was the first time for an LCP from AIESEC Alexandria to attend EuroXpro, I had a big responsibility to position my LC and Country over there along with Kareem AbdelAzeem, MCVP IGIP Elect from AIESEC Egypt. We had to position our country well to change the thoughts about our country after revolution and promoting that Egypt is the best destination for a Global Leader to implement positive changes.

Q. What were the key points discussed in the conference and how unique was it from any other international conference that you've attended? A. The conference was the most beneficial international conference I’ve attended so far. The agenda was about how AIESEC is crucial for any citizen in the world and how can our impacts reach every young person in the world, and how our Stakeholders and Global Partners see us now. I know how the global plan is going now and I participated in next year's plan. There were sessions which empowered all delegates with skills and tools to enhance our Global Leadership skills.

Q. How was LC Alex and MC Egypt positioned, and have you faced any difficulties in positioning and spreading our culture? A. AIESEC Alexandria was positioned very well by its cultural diversity and how our LC contributes to our Egyptian Societal needs. I didn't find any problems to position my LC or my country; everyone was open and interested in our culture. Q. Were there any other LCs from Egypt there? No, AIESEC Alexandria was the only LC represented there from AIESEC Egypt. Q. Can you tell us more about the effectiveness award? What is it and why did we win it, and is it on an international level or just the MENA region? It was a MENA Competition among all LCs in our Region. For the first time in AIESEC Alexandria's history to win the effectiveness award, it was basically measured upon how we affect all our stakeholders positively. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this amazing success.

Q. While in Greece, you mentioned in your post that there are going to be updates announced soon, could you give us a glimpse of that? A. I won't say much now, but all I can say that there will be more focus on all our stakeholders to be satisfied with our LC and their awareness about how AIESEC is important for every young person in our current and future state.

Q. Describe working in an environment with international leadership body.

A. In this conference I worked with 8 International teams. I learned how to think from a global, wide perspective to impact the world that we live in today, Thinking strategically with how we can collaborate as one network from all regions to have one common goal and boost our countries' performances. I had a 20 minutes meeting with President of AIESEC International which of course was one of the best meetings I attended. It made me think from a Global perspective not only focusing on my local level, and how can an LC influence AIESEC International team and AIESEC in 111 countries that we are present in.

Inside Scoop

Q. What was the key value that you, as Mina personally, gained from this experience? A. What really added to me in EuroXpro is that it’s not about results and competitions between different entities, now it’s all about how can we, as One network, collaborate together to achieve our global 2015 vision to eventually achieve our Organizational Vision one day. Q. Would you like to mention anything more to our members?

I would like to say to my members that AIESEC is very powerful! I remember all the sessions that were delivered from our Partners and they all mentioned that it was an honor to them to be around AIESECers and how we as AIESECers are important to our

societies. I highly recommend all of you to attend international conferences, you will learn a lot! AIESEC is not only an organization that will affect your résumé, AIESEC is much bigger than this and your role is so much important here; your role is to find what any society needs to positively change and should be able to fulfill it. You must know a true fact: I’m 21 years old; I have worked in more than 20 international teams, LCP/CEO locally of the World’s largest student run organization, and have interacted with global leaders across all regions. No one in my age has had this experience except if he/she is in AIESEC. The AIESEC experience is what every Egyptian individual needs now. Don't leave AIESEC.

First Middle Manager’s meeting with LCP

Last week, with the help of TM, LCP has set the first

middle managers’ meeting with the leadership body of

the LC for an hour. Attendees included one or two Team

leaders from every function. The meeting was very

productive as he sat with the leaders to hear the overall

promotional materials for the recruitment while

approaching partners to have exposure on campuses.

They have raised INTEGRAL as a learning partner and

ABA are willing to give the winning project from 50,000

to 100,000 funds to start with.

RnR Explained

Last Month, TM announced the launch of the RnR

system to track the members. Each leader is asked to

track and give points to each member based on their

punctuality and performance. At the end, the best

performing member is going to be rewarded with a

1000 EGP deduction from any national or international

conference. Also, recently TM asked the leaders to

explain the RnR system for the members, so in brief, the

RnR is a spreadsheet with 7 different sheets for each

function. Each sheet has all the members’ names and

information and team leaders are asked to give points

and notes on each member’s performance. The sheet is

currently active and everyone thinks it is a good step

forward for an effective evaluation.

After having been postponed for a month, due to

security reasons, NTC leaders’ edition has finally took

place in Ras Sudr gathering the whole leadership body

members from every function to take part. Though NTC

delegation was roughly 70 members, the 3 days were

really intense and full with training and simulations as

delegates were divided between Train the sellers track
