Auxiliary Aids to Navigation (ATON) Verifier TASK 5.2

You’re on board the Auxiliary Vessel #360144 which has departed its harbor on an ATON Patrol to check 8 private aids. Your coxswain has planned the ATON patrol to be able to check the non-lighted aids in the day light hours and lighted aids when they will be lit. At 1600 hours you are checking PATON 200100798123 below. Checking the buoy position, with your Garmin GPSMAP-478 with WAAS acquired with EPE 8 feet, chart datum used is WGS84, and your position alongside this buoy is 36º 48’ 20.000” N 121º 47’ 15.110” W. Your Garmin 100 echo sounder with transducer is 2.5 Ft below waterline is reading 20 feet. Use today’s date on the PATON Sheet. Complete PATON 200100798123 and include any and all discrepancies you observe for this aid shown in photo.

You are in CGSTA Rio Vista OPCON (11-30890) you are on board the Auxiliary Vessel #360144 which has departed its harbor on a Safety Patrol in West Delta area. Your coxswain has planned his patrol to cover area all around Sherman Island. At 1100 hours you come across this PATON at the North end of Decker Island. With your Garmin GPSMAP-478 with WAAS acquired with EPE 7 feet, chart datum used is WGS84; your position alongside this buoy is 36º 06 18.24”N 121º 42’ 34.80”W. Your Garmin 100 echo sounder with transducer is 3.0 Ft below waterline is reading 30 feet. Complete the NS-7054 (Aids to Navigation Report) & include any and all discrepancies information you observe and the actions you took. Use your today’s date.
