AIDF: Background

BACKRGROUND

The Aid & International Development Forum (AIDF) is the world leading platform for building

collaboration among stakeholders to achieve food and water security and establish agriculture as a

driver of environmental sustainability and economic opportunity. AIDF Food Security Summits are

well attended by senior representatives from Ministries of Agriculture, Rural Development, Science

& Technology and Environment, leading regional and international NGOs, UN agencies, investors,

research institutes and the private sector.

Following the success of recent AIDF Asia summits on food security, water security and agriculture in

Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, the forum has decided to translate the expertise and replicate

the acknowledged concept for the East Africa region.

The Summit on Climate-Smart Agriculture and Drought Management is scheduled for November

3rd 2015 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is scheduled within a

three day Summit from the 3-5th November (also looking at health and aid operations) allowing for

additional workshop sessions and meetings at the UNCC during these days.

OBJECTIVE

The Summit is an unique international gathering promoting climate resilient, effective and

sustainable food production in vulnerable and developing regions in East Africa. Bringing together

200+ government ministers and advisors, regulators, farming associations, investors, UN agencies,

agriculture industry experts and NGOs it enables robust debates on sustainable agricultural

transformation and innovations in seed technology, soil and drought management and provides

tangible outcomes, alongside maximum networking opportunities.

It's a one stop solution to reach out to Africa’s agriculture decision makers!
