Phase X requirements implemented on November 18, 2014

Reproduce the AHPS national, regional, and WFO HSA maps in a zoom-able ESRI Interface

• After Phase X is implemented, users will be able to employ ESRI’s full pan and zoom capabilities at the national, regional, and WFO HSA scales.

• Clicking anywhere on the national map will take users to the appropriate WFO map.

Enable HPMs and the Regions to modify hydronotes for all or multiple gages

• Currently HPMs must go to each individual gage’s Gauge Configuration Page to define up to 2 hydronotes.

• After Phase X is implemented, it will be faster and easier for HPMs to make changes to hydronotes for all or multiple gages. – For example, if a RFC switches to using 2 days of QPF in its hydrologic models, HPMs will be able to

select all or multiple locations where new hydronotes such as “2 days of QPF being used to produce this river forecast” can replace the current hydronotes.

Implement an AHPS CMS out-of-service feature

• Implementing this requirement will ensure that all briefing pages (e.g., SR RFC decision support page, etc.) display the same version of hydrograph.

• Images in the resources/hydrographs directory will be the same as those in the directories shown below.

Enable users to view a site’s hydrograph when mousing over its location on a regional map

• Currently a user sees a five character ID and river name when mousing over a site, and has to click on the site to bring up its hydrograph.

• After Phase X is implemented, mousing over a site will display its associated hydrograph.

Provide long-range river flood risk in shapefile and KMZ formats

• Currently the long-range river flood risk data is only available in .csv format.

• Having this data available in Shapefile and KMZ formats will make it easier for stakeholders to use in web mapping applications, including Google, Bing, OpenStreet, and ESRI maps.

Enable users to view recent crests

• Recent flood crests, even when not of historical magnitude (e.g., top 10), can be useful in communicating impacts from current/forecast flooding.

• After Phase X is implemented, a list of recent crests will appear between historical crests and low water records.

Provide maximum forecast flood category files for all available time increments

• Currently only the maximum forecast flood category through day 2 files are available.

• After Phase X is implemented, maximum forecast flood category shapefiles and KMZ files for all available time increments (1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 4-day, 5-day, 6-day, 7-day, 8-day, 9-day, and entire period) will be available by going to the WFO scale (Download Tab).

Enable users to view the normal pool level on the hydrograph

• After Phase X is implemented, HPMs will be able to define the Normal Pool in the AHPS CMS.

Enable users to identify sites with no flood stage and sites that are at or below their low water threshold

Old National and WFO Map Legends

• Modify the national and regional map legend.

Enable users to identify sites that are near or above flood stage or at or below their low water threshold

• Modify the national and region map drop-down menu.

Create a web-based Graphical User Interface for the National River Location Database (NRLDB)

• Collect and query info for agency operations and to manage the Hydrologic Services Program at all levels of the organization.

• Produce customized reports (e.g., E-19s, spreadsheets for national stakeholders, etc.).

• Access via NOAA LDAP authentication.

Convert Flood Inundation Maps to take advantage of MapServer

• Currently we are not always making FIM forecast data shapefiles available in their true resolution because of download time constraints.

• Implementing this requirement is important because the data resolution will be maintained and the time it takes for quality control will be decreased.
