Funding differences between Austrian provinces But almost all provinces had their main focus on “Agri-

environmental” + “LFA” derived from national priority setting

Territorial effects of RDP funds (provincial level)

Lower Austria received most support and created most new jobs

Upper Austria with 2nd largest support, created far fewer new j.

Styria (3rd largest support) created more than twice as many new jobs as Upper-Austria

Differences of CAP effects (pillar 2) not visible at national level!!

Territorial effects of RDP funds (Axis 3+4),(NUTS 3 level)

“Obersteiermark West”: below-average compared with other 6 NUTS 3 regions of Styria

Compared to other Austrian provinces and NUTS3 regions it created average number of new jobs

Quite significant impact differences of RD support!

Conclusive remarks

Inclusion of regional level in planning and appli-cation of RDP would be essential for efficient use of resources

One horizontal programme for whole AustriaAll RDP measures could be used equally across

all regions apart from LFAIn Austrian RDP the regional level is turned offConsidering regional conditions in programme

planning could improve RDP effectsSplit up unique national RDP into different

regional programmes
