AgriAsia, held once a year, is one of the leading international agricul-tural events showcasing international agriculture technologies in India. 200 companies from India and overseas did partcipate in this years exhibiton. The exhibition took most of 15.000 square meter exhibition space at the Mahatma Mandir Memorial Center.

Agri Asia 2018 has been visited by approx. 125.000+ visitors from en-tire India and abroad. The event is designed for farmers, agriculture business representatives, agronomists, associations, biotechnologist, government employees.

With a population second only to China and the second largest agricultural land-bank - 157.35 million hectares, the Indian market remains still largely ignored by many foreign producers of agricultural technology and supplies. The scale of the Indi-an agriculture industry is enormous – it produces annually about 161 million tonnes of agricultural products, has 20 agri-climatic regions, which encompasses all 15 major climate zones as well as possesses 46 out of 60 main soil types that exist worldwide. About 58 per cent of India’s population depend on agriculture as a primary source of income.

India is the worlds largest producer of spices, pulses, milk, tea, cashew and jute and the 2nd largest producer of wheat, rice, fruits and vegetables, sugar-cane, cotton and oilseeds. It also ranks 2nd in global production of fruits and vege-tables and is a leading exporter of mangoes and bananas. The country also exports grapes in large quantity across the world.

Despite the fact that the Indian agro industry is largely supplied by the domestic companies, many new opportunities exist for foreign companies, especially, producers of modern technology and inputs. Due to limited availability of arable land against growing population, huge opportunities exists for inputs like seeds and plant growth nutrients. In India, commercial seeds only account for minor percentage (25 per cent) of sales and huge demand is expected for quality branded seeds. Given that India wants to establish herself as a global food processing hub, there is a high de-mand for cold storage capacity, modern warehouses as well as food processing parks. The Indian government aims to provide financial and policy support using numerous government and private funds. In addition, there are new state and regional government initiatives on boosting the horticulture sector.

So far, the mechanization level of Indian agricultural sector meant mostly “tractorization” usually tractors with 30-hor-sepower engine. The second wave of mechanization is under way starting in highly competitive sectors such as potato growing. Indian producers are also looking for irrigation technologies, small-sized tractors and narrow soil-working machinery.
