Our Story UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is a non-profit initiative of University of Indonesia developed since

2010. In 2009 the University of Indonesia hosted an International Conference on World University Rankings. The

conference was attended by World University rankers such as Webometrics, HEEACT, and others. In 2010, Prof.

Dr. Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri as Rector of the University of Indonesia at that time-initiated UI GreenMetric

World University Rankings and appointed Prof. Riri Fitri Sari as the Chairperson. Soon a team consisting of

Junaidi, S.S., M.A, Dr. Budi Hartono, Dr. Allan Lauder, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Tjahjono formulated UIGM

Questionnaire and introduced UI Ranking to the world. In 2011, 11 new indicators in 5 categories have been

added. Subsequently Education has been added as a new category in 2012. By the year 2015, a massive

improvement was introduced including carbon footprint and a more systematic data collection. In 2016 an online

based review and validation system has been set for the assessors. UIGM took Policy into Action in 2016, Global

Partnership for Sustainable Future in 2017, Universities, Impacts, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in

2018, Sustainable University in a Changing World: Lessons, Challenges and Opportunities in 2019, Universities’

Responsibility for Sustainable Development Goals and World’s Complex Challenges in 2020, and Universities,

UI GreenMetric, and SDGs in The Time of Pandemic in 2021 as its annual themes. In 2020, 912 universities from

84 countries participate in the rankings.

To reach and coordinate more participating universities, UI GWURN was established in 2017 with a national

coordinator in each country. To make it work, Junaidi formulated strategic framework for the network. Currently,

there are 35 national coordinators in Asia, America, Africa and Europe. Each voluntarily organizes national

workshop inviting other universities in their country. Since its establishment in 2010, it has been increasingly

recognized as the first and only universities ranking on sustainability and has been used by participating

universities to benchmark and do continuous improvement in the area of sustainability.

As a member of IREG, more activities and collaboration among participating universities are expected to achieve

our common goal: sustainable university for sustainable future. UI GreenMetric itself developed its own ranking

system by studying other ranking systems such as: The Times Higher Education World University Rankings

(THE) sponsored by Thompson Reuters, the QS World University Rankings, the Academic Ranking of World

Universities (ARWU) published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and the Webometrics Ranking of

World Universities (Webometrics), published by Cybermetrics Lab, CINDOC-CSIC in Spain.

UI GreenMetric held two webinar series during Covid-19 pandemic. They were webinar series on Sustainable

University Effort during Covid-19 and Indonesian Sustainable University Effort during Covid-19 Pandemic.

During Covid-19 national workshops of GreenMetric were held online. In 2020, National workshops on

GreenMetric were held in 7 countries and 5 technical workshops on GreenMetric.

Our Rankings

The aim of this ranking is to provide the result of online survey regarding the current condition and

policies related to the greening of campuses and improving sustainability in universities all over the

world. It is expected that by drawing the attention of university leaders and stakeholders, more attention

will be given to global climate change, clean energy and water conservation, waste recycling, and green

transportation. This will require increased awareness and a change in the behavior of many if we are to

see it happen.

4. Trees Rating

UI GreenMetric Trees Rating is an evaluation system that assesses your university using a rating

method. Universities are awarded a rating of one to five trees + (the highest rating), depending on

their performance within the evaluation. Your institution will receive an overall score, as well as

ratings in 6 categories, which you can use to better promote your university as a sustainable

university on an international scale. Your score can be publicized in badge or certificate form and

will offer you a validation tool to support your communication for prospective students, partners,

and potential staff members regarding the quality of your institution.

Authorization

Institut Teknologi Sumatera agrees to the scope of works/offers as outlines on the above proposal dated

20052021. UIGM is directed to proceed with the scheduling as outlined on the proposal.

Authorization and commencement of above work requires a signed copy of this proposal.

Upon receipt of the signed authorization UIGM will schedule and initiation of work will start at a mutually

agreed timeframe.

Please note that the success of this service engagement is based on critical knowledge data and expertise

which will be passed to the university team. This has no direct relation to inclusion or improvement in any

international rankings and the success of this year ranking remains the work and property of the institution

and its adaptability of advisory and strategic recommendations. UIGM adheres to the strictest process of

integrity, quality control and transparency.

Agreement Letter

Effective since 20th May 2021, UI GreenMetric (“First Party”) and Institut Teknologi Sumatera (“Second

Party”) agree as follows:

1. The Second Party agrees to take Platinum Service from The First Party. The Services of which

include displaying profile and banner of The Second Party in The First Party’s website and social

media, hosting 1 (ONE) UI GreenMetric event, presenting Fact file Analysis, and Trees rating.

2. Both Parties agree to arrange 3 (three) meetings with reviewers in 2021. The date and mode

(virtual and/or on-site visit) of which will be mutually consulted and agreed.

3. Concerning the parties' possible interest in discussing and evaluating the fact file and evidence of

sustainability and green campus effort of The Second Party, The First Party may need or be

permitted to disclose data; work plans, photographs, drawings, and other technical information of

any kind, which are deemed to be the property of The Second Party.

4. In connection with the information provided by The Second Party in this agreement, The First

Party must: (a) keep the Information confidential in its use with the same level of attention as

when protecting its own Information; (b) limit the use of Information to discussions with The

Second Party only, and not disclose it to other parties; (c) notify these employees and consultants

of their obligations concerning the Information, (d) not copy, duplicate, reverse engineer or

decompile anything provided below, and (e) use the information for evaluation purposes only.

5. The Second Party agrees to pay for the Platinum service to The First Party of IDR 65.000.000

(sixty-five million rupiahs) in total upon the acceptance of invoice sent by The First Party with 2

(two) installment payment terms, with first payment in October 2021 for IDR 35.000.000 (thirty-

five million rupiahs) and the second payment in December 2021 for IDR 30.000.000 (thirty million

rupiahs). Payment method is available via Virtual Account addressed to:

7. This agreement cannot be canceled by either party without the written consent of either party. If

the First Party and the Second Party have agreed, then this agreement is automatically canceled.

8. This clause complements and is an additional explanation for the entire Agreement between the

First Party and the Second Party for the possibility of changes, modifications, amendments, or

cancellations which will be effective if submitted and signed by both parties.

9. Dispute Settlement: (a) If a dispute arises concerning the interpretation or implementation of this

Agreement the Parties agree to settle amicably by mutual consultation or negotiation. (b) The

Parties to the Agreement shall observe and comply with all laws, rules, and regulations in

Indonesia where this Agreement is performed.

10. This agreement letter is valid until 31st December 2021.
