Copernicus, previously known as GMES, is the European Programme for the establishment of a European capacity for Earth Observation.

The European Commission has entrusted ECMWF with the implementation of the Copernicus Climate Change Service.

The Climate Data Store (CDS) and Toolbox, core C3S infrastructure, will provide information about past, present and future climate in terms of Essential Climate Variables and derived climate indicator to increase the knowledge base to support adaptation and mitigation policies. 

CDS will offer access to INSPIRE compliant Data and Services

View Service INSPIRE View Service provided by SmartMet server – Sample files injected for each dataset 

• Only a few meteorological parameters configured as WMS layers. Data is large and it needs to be converted to internal format SQD –> WMS layers in local disk –> Formats supported to be tested and evolved (NetCDF)

• Further, calculation operations are applied by Toolbox ‐> how to present the data as WMS?

Download Service WFS and download services provided by SmartMet Server ‐> WFS not in operation yet.  Data must be downloaded to CDS Local Storage so that SmartMet Server can use the data

• Each dataset potentially  represented by a WFS stored query and assigned with an INSPIRE id.

• WFS does not support binary grid data ‐> insert data download URL to the WFS response.• SmartMet Server WFS plugin can be slightly modify based on final decision.

Web Coverage Service (WCS) – INSPIRE WCS Profile is work in progress – SmartMet Server WCS interface is under development.
