ASSISTANT CHEFS – JASON & CHRISTINE

• Full-time GNB employees responsible for Canada Games Program

• Manage all aspects of Team NB -Operations, Logistics and Technical i.e.: complaints; budget, registration, clothing, transportation, communication, security, schedules, equipment, appeals, doping, etc.

• Main point of contact for Coaches and Managers before Games

• Part of Leadership Team with Chef de Mission.

PROVINCIAL SPORT ORGANIZATION

• Oversee the operation and development of their CanadaGames Program; including the identification, selection andtraining of athletes, coaches and managers;

• Establish policies to deal with any disciplinary or selectionissues;

• Provide sufficient resources and support to coaching staff forbest training environment for success;

• Provide competitive uniforms

COACHES

• Responsible for athletes’ preparation, performance and conduct prior to, during and after the Games;

• Must observe and comply with the Team NB Code of Conduct and policies;

• Must complete the required level of certification;

• Must attend all Team NB functions and ceremonies;

• Must live in the assigned residence for the duration of the Games and be aware of athletes whereabout at all time.

MANAGERS

• Responsible for the overall administration of the team;

• Ensures that all the required forms are completed by deadlines (online registration, waiver forms, participant agreements, etc);

• Ensures that team members receive all the information beingshared about the Games on a timely manner;

• Responsible for athletes’ preparation, performance and conduct prior to, during and after the Games;

• Must maintain ongoing communication with assigned Sport Liaison.

Sport Liaisons

• Support coaches and managers with administrative requirements and follow-ups as needed;

• Find answers, provide clarification and handle issues as they arise;

• During Games, act as Liaisons between sport teams and the Team NB Leadership Team to ensure the timely delivery of relevant information, both ways.

Communications Team

• Coordinates all media requests during Games;

• News releases, social media, interview support, web updates;

• Photography & Videography;

• Results, stories and photos to NB media.

• All Team NB coaches, managers, mission staff andsupport staff must complete the minimum screeningprocess 180 days prior to the opening ceremonies ofthe Canada Games

ANTI-DOPING EDUCATION

• CCES will be conducting testing at Games

• All Team NB members are required to complete anapproved “Doping Education Session” prior totravelling to the Canada Games.

• The on-line education module will be available toteams in the fall.

CODE OF CONDUCT

• Important to understand that over 60% of athletes will be minors – under 18

• Coaches and Managers are fully responsible for theirathletes at all times

• All members of Team NB are expected to conduct themselves in a mannerconsistent with high ethical standards and to promote pride and good willfor the province through their behaviour and attitude. Team NB membersare ambassadors for the province from the time they begin to train as aCanada Games team member until they return home from the Games.

HEALTH CARE COVERAGE

• All basic health care costs for accredited participants are covered with a VALID Medicare Card

• All participants must bring Medicare Card at Games

• Participants that are covered by a ‘Family’ Health and Travel Insurance Plan should include policy number in GEMS.pro and bring their card

• It is recommended that Managers make a copy of all Medicare cards and makes sure none are expired.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN

• Given various situations that have occurred over the last few years it is important to be organized given the time change and distance

• Social media leaves us open to speculation

• A message to all managers, coaches, and mission staff with instructions

• All teams must report their status within 15 minutes, and account for all their athletes

COMMUNICATION• Managers will receive per diem to upgrade data plan or

purchase temporary phone ($50)

– MUST HAVE PHONE 24/7

• Assigned Sport Liaison will be your main contact duringGames (i.e. mtg room bookings, information, issues, transportation, etc.)

• Mission office will be communicating daily via App (tbd)

• Team NB will be active on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

• Team Managers are responsible for sharing Games information with parents

COACH CERTIFICATION

• Head coaches = NCCP Competition Development Certified or Level 3 Certified;

• Assistant Coaches = NCCP Competition Development Trained or Level 3 Certified;

• Male and Female coaches required when male and female athletes on team;

• Details in appendix of Technical Package

• Team sports: 180 days prior – August 2018

• Individual sports: 90 days prior – November 2018

VENUE PASS HOLDER POLICY

• 5 per P/T per week, non transferable

• Accreditation that allows access to venues

• No village or Transportation access

• Do not walk in ceremonies

• No Team NB clothing

• No Field of Play access (except team rooms)

• Application form will be shared in next memo
