Germans interviewed people of different ages about:

-how they grew up-who stayed at home (wife or husband) -who managed the finances-changes in households-are changes of usual role models being accepted?

In general it’s usual for women to stay at home; obvious differences and developments:

70 years ago: -children were hit at home and at

school -father was the head of the family -girls didn’t get a good education

40 years ago, things seemed to change:

- women got more rights => didn’t have to ask their husbands for permission any more

- it was forbidden to hit children at school

today women and men have almost equal rights, e.g. the same salary.

It’s possible for men to stay at home to bring up the children, if the mother earns more money. Even people of the elder generation think it is okay and a development towards the right direction.
