IntroductionThis Insights Discovery profile is based on Agata Wojtyniak’s responses to the InsightsPreference Evaluator which was completed on 04 June 2013.

The origins of personality theory can be traced back to the fifth century BC, when Hippocratesidentified four distinct energies exhibited by different people. The Insights System is built aroundthe model of personality first identified by the Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. This modelwas published in his 1921 work “Psychological Types” and developed in subsequent writings.Jung’s work on personality and preferences has since been adopted as the seminal work inunderstanding personality and has been the subject of study for thousands of researchers to thepresent day.

Using Jung's typology, this Insights Discovery profile offers a framework for self-understandingand development. Research suggests that a good understanding of self, both strengths andweaknesses, enables individuals to develop effective strategies for interaction and can help themto better respond to the demands of their environment.

Generated from several hundred thousand permutations of statements, this profile is unique. Itreports statements which your Evaluator responses indicate may apply to you. Modify or deleteany statement which does not apply, but only after checking with colleagues or friends to identifywhether the statement may be a “blind spot” for you.

Use this profile pro-actively. That is, identify the key areas in which you can develop and takeaction. Share the important aspects with friends and colleagues. Ask for feedback from them onareas which seem particularly relevant for you and develop an action plan for growth personallyand interpersonally.

OverviewThese statements provide a broad understanding of Agata’s work style. Use this section to gain abetter understanding of her approaches to her activities, relationships and decisions.

Personal Style

Eager to add to her knowledge, Agata is passionate about researching significant new subjectsthat capture her interest. She is an imaginative and creative visionary who is a source ofinspiration to most. Routine, detail and close supervision are anathema to her. She wants tomake an impact and accomplish something in life that she will long be remembered by. She is ather best when planning ahead and launching those plans into action. She prefers to deal with avariety of situations, people and events, all at the same time.

Agata is outgoing and direct, but as a participant, she can, if she is not careful, take control of theprocess. With contagious enthusiasm and a world full of possibilities, she sees so many ideasshe may have great difficulty concentrating on one. She has started many interesting projects inher time, but has finished considerably fewer. Agata has high energy and is always striking out ina forward direction. She follows her impulses, moving strongly towards her goal. Her ability to dodetailed work extends only to that work which is necessary to achieve a specific objective - thatability is there however, particularly if the goal is clearly defined.

Agata can combine social expertise within her normally assertive behaviour. She appears tothrive on a wide variety of tasks focusing on a motivating or promoting role. Agata gainsmotivation from her ability to generate ideas. Her almost permanently positive state can oftencarry others with her. Tending to pursue success mainly to reinforce her sense of self worth, shelikes to experience a steady stream of new ideas to assist her in goal attainment. One of hergreatest contributions to life is her creation of ideas, which flow almost continuously for her.

Life is an exciting drama waiting to unfold for her. She is quick to spot opportunities and see howthey can be turned to her advantage. Agata's skill at taking a very broad, long-range view ofthings contributes to her reputation as something of a visionary. She is strong on initiative andcreativity, but may often be weak on the completion of projects. With her keen analytical abilitiesand good strategic thinking, Agata can almost always find the rationale for the things that shewants to do.

Agata's interest, enthusiasm and energy levels are high. She will dismiss negatives, being eagerto accomplish the task. Agata is a good people manager because she has the ability to see whatmay lie ahead and then communicate her vision to others. Hard work, busy schedules andmerit-based remuneration are hallmarks of the way Agata prefers to work. She may ignoresensory data that might suggest danger and may knowingly take risks that others avoid. Newchallenges are more appealing to her than the status quo. In developing the success of her“vision“ she may unconsciously tend to compare herself with the success of others, disassociating herself from the envy that this process may generate.

Interacting with Others

Agata enjoys involvement in many activities, with a variety of people. She is stimulated by doingthe unexpected or the unusual. Visualising future programmes or outcomes that seem impossible

now, she may well see them come to fruition months or even years later. Agata's work style isdown-to-earth, assertive and persuasive. She may frequently rebel against the rules and in sodoing will strongly resist attempts by others to regulate her behaviour. She deals imaginativelywith social relationships which generate a large variety of acquaintances. She is a “networking“expert.

She has a tendency to blame other people for difficulties she encounters and may sometimesdismiss others' opinions as of relatively little or no value. She likes to lead rather than manage, isnormally fair but demanding and will not always be willing to accept change without first knowingwhy. A creative thinker, Agata is generally warm, enthusiastic and confident of her own abilities. She makes stimulating company with her witty and interesting conversational style. Agata candisplay quick humour and optimism. She can be charming and stimulating company and willoften enthuse with others to become involved in her projects through her infectious personality.Agata exudes charismatic charm and a natural ability to communicate well.

Although she may fail to recognise the symptoms, she can become rather uncomfortable ifseparated from her family or group for long periods of time. When Agata is in charge of a projectshe offers the team long-term vision and the ability to inspire and communicate that vision toothers. Agata's ingenuity, warmth and her understanding of others allows her to proceed throughlife with great confidence. She is very effective in a leadership role, able to persuade others ofthe value of her vision. She will introduce colleagues to all sorts of possibilities which challengeconvention, but which may appear to many as completely impractical. She does not appreciatecritical comments about her personal qualities as she sees these comments as personal attackson her integrity.

Decision Making

To carry out her innovative ideas, Agata relies on her impulsive energy. She is a keen initiatorwho finds most problems stimulating. She is stimulated by difficulties and is most ingenious insolving them. She is likely to exercise her intuition constantly on the most important andchallenging parts of a problem. She prefers to make decisions based on “gut feel” rather than onexhaustive and repetitive analysis. She may lack sustained focus on the problem in hand.

She prefers action to conversation and enjoys dealing with difficult situations the moment theyarise. She is prepared to make high risk decisions. She may unconsciously manipulate theprocess to get her own way. She sees so many possibilities that she sometimes has difficultyselecting the best activity or interest to pursue, or in keeping to the agreed track. She should takecare not to take on too many commitments, and be sure to take time to see to the completion ofcurrent work before starting a new project.

Optimistic, spontaneous, creative and confident, she has an original mind and a strong sense ofthe possible. She is constantly full of enthusiasm for new ideas. She is more interested in thefuture consequences of her actions than in the present condition of people or projects. Agatafinds problems stimulating and is ingenious in tackling complex situations. She is driven to thinkup many alternatives for a project or system due to her ability to constantly see the big picture.Sometimes she makes poor choices by getting involved with too many things at once. Agata'smany accomplishments are achieved mainly through determination and perseverance inreaching or exceeding her high standards.

Possible Blind SpotsOur perceptions of self may be different to the perceptions others have of us. We project who weare onto the outside world through our “persona” and are not always aware of the effect our lessconscious behaviours have on others. These less conscious behaviours are termed “BlindSpots”. Highlight the important statements in this section of which you are unaware and test themfor validity by asking for feedback from friends or colleagues.

Agata’s possible Blind Spots:

Agata needs to work toward making commitments to fewer projects so she completes more ofthe ones she begins. She may sometimes come across to others as somewhat boastful andselfish. She tells rather than asks, and whilst confident in communicating, can be ratheroverpowering at times. There is also a tendency for her to become very defensive if challenged.

She may jump to conclusions or make incorrect assumptions and decisions too quickly, withoutgathering all the important facts. Endowed with the gift of articulation, she is likely to feel that sheis competent in most areas. While excited by certain ideas and the lure of the “big” picture, shewill not remain totally committed to a schedule or project if a better or more exciting challengeappears. When her hopes or dreams lose touch with reality, others may then witness a rathersurreal approach to life. She needs to resist the urge simply to perform and instead try to morereadily share who she really is.

Due to her ability to generate creative answers, her intentions are sometimes misread by others.Taking the time to pay closer attention to what is actually going on in the world around her andlistening carefully to both the input and reactions of others will help her. Her natural quicknessand pressure to anticipate what is coming means she occasionally assumes wrongly that sheknows what a person is going to say, and is tempted to jump in to finish their sentences.Sometimes she talks and thinks so quickly, and so much, that others have the impression theyhave not been required to contribute. People can see that she doesn't always take a rational orobjective view of the world.

Opposite TypeThe description in this section is based on Agata's opposite type on the Insights Wheel. Often,we have most difficulty understanding and interacting with those whose preferences are differentto our own. Recognising these characteristics can help in developing strategies for personalgrowth and enhanced interpersonal effectiveness.

Recognising your Opposite Type:

Agata’s opposite Insights type is the Coordinator, Jung’s “Introverted Sensing” type.

The Coordinator is a careful, cautious, conventional person who is diplomatic and sincere.Coordinators tend to be very loyal, precise and disciplined with high standards and expectationsof self. Coordinators may appear to lack self-confidence and prefer to operate in a structured andordered manner, focusing on established guidelines rather than future possibilities.

Agata will often observe the Coordinator procrastinating on a decision until all of the facts anddetails are available. Agata may also see the Coordinator as a critical and ideological thinker whowill be quiet and reserved around strangers. Coordinators do not like stress or chaos and tend tobe rather private, requiring support and reassurance. They prefer to build close relationships withsmall groups of people and like to retain the familiar and predictable. The Coordinator becomesstubborn if pressured, particularly by Agata!

Coordinators are concerned with what is “right” and, to Agata, appear slow in decision making. They prefer a steady-paced environment with little interpersonal aggression and they tend todistrust outgoing people. They are motivated by schedule and order and are among the mostprivate of the Insights types. Agata sees the Coordinator as ever concerned with efficiency, becoming stressed when others do not stick to tightly laid down schedules and plans.
