After School Matters

Vision:

After School Matters provides teens with opportunities to discover their

potential and find their future.

Values:

After School Matters, strives to demonstrate and inspire the following

professional values, both in our own work and in that of the teens we

serve: Excellence, Teamwork, Respect, Commitment, and Innovation.

R.A.M.P. Program (Readiness, Ability, Marketability, Progression)

This program was designed and developed by the team at Leap Learning

Systems. It provided students with several fun, hands-on, project-based

learning opportunities. Students went on field trips, met with business

and education professionals, got to know college students, visited col-

lege campuses, and made friends with teens from all over Chicago. They

also developed important skills that will help them pursue a college edu-

cation and future careers.

Program instruction and student coaching provided by

For the past six weeks, students representing over

twenty high schools have come together under the direction of

Leap Learning Systems to build communication skills and

gain insights on how to use them in preparation for college and

careers.

Through hard work and perseverance, these students

have successfully completed all of the program requirements

and have earned a $420 award from ASM. They completed a

service project at Ariel Community Academy, visited The

Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago, learned about Early Col-

lege enrollment at City Colleges of Chicago completed mul-

tiple financial literacy workshops with the staff from Ariel Ed-

ucation Initiative, opened bank accounts with the support of

the Economic Awareness Council and visited the main

branch of BMO Harris Bank.

This Student Learning Showcase is designed to

provide students with a stage to voice and demonstrate some

of the skills and knowledge they have developed. Thank you to our sponsors, program supporters and

friends. All of their efforts have helped to enhance this pro-

gram and further educate our youth. And most importantly

we thank the parents, families and the Chicago community as a

whole for providing the students with encouragement and

support.
