African Partnerships for Sustainable Growth

Vision

To promote and empower YPs within the FIDIC Community to participate effectively in shaping the future of the 

Consulting Engineering Industry. 

Mission

To provide YPs with a real space and platform to influence the strategies,  policies and initiatives of FIDIC and society, by promoting the active participation in YPF to all MAs, 

through a variety of initiatives and activities .

Goals

• Introduce FIDIC’s goals, vision and role to YPs;• Encourage YPs to become more active and understand their responsibility for 

the future of the industry;• Encourage the long‐term participation of YPs in FIDIC activities;• Encourage FIDIC MAs and firms to become more aware and supportive of YPs 

activities;• Liaise with the FIDIC Executive Committee (EC) to promote and support YPs 

initiatives; • Support and empower YPs all over the world;• Recognize, promote and acknowledge YP achievements and influences;• Provide a platform to exchange knowledge among peers and industry leaders; • Develop and facilitate communication, networking and international exposure; 

and• Build a network for all professionals within FIDIC.

1. Young Professionals Forum (YPF) 

• Initiative began in Montreux in 2001. EV one of the founders.• YPF (SC) was established in 2004.• Updated Business Plan.• YPF is run by a committee of Young Professional volunteers (SC).• Members from all over the world (31 members for 21 MAs in 2017).• Hundreds of supportive and enthusiastic members.

2. Young Professionals Management Training Programme (YPMTP)

• Management training for engineers and professional staff• Based on FIDIC Guide to Practice• Lectures and mentoring by key FIDIC specialists• Real life case studies on a virtual platform• Lecturing and discussions during 4‐5 days in connection with the FIDIC 

Conference.• The outcomes presented during the Future Leader Workshop (FLW) in the FIDIC 

Conference• Up to 20 nationalities are represented every year.• Attended by 600 students from 80 nationalities since 2004.

3. Young Professional Award

• The FIDIC YP Award was established in 2015.• to acknowledge and promote the remarkable achievements of YPs to the 

consulting engineering industry worldwide and to encourage effective participation of YPs in FIDIC. 

4. FIDIC COMMITTEES & Conference

• YPs are represented in different FIDIC committees.• YPs are participated actively in FIDIC Conference.• Their responsibility for the future of the industry. • Exchange knowledge and experiences through generations.
