CAPASSO is a Pan-African CMO. Our purpose is to administer the mechanical rights of music composers and publishers by licensing, protecting and collecting royalties from users globally and distributing earnings to rightsholders.

Improving Payouts: Just How Much Data Is Being Processed
• As at September 2021 CAPASSO had processed over 13.4 billion digital transactions
• CAPASSO has received over 7861 Digital Sales Reports
• Over 500 hours of content uploaded onto YouTube every minute
• Over 60k Songs are uploaded to DSPs everyday
• ABOUT 30% OF ALL THIS USAGE IS UNIDENTIFIED DUE TO LACK OF OR INCORRECT METADATA
Where does it go wrong? Matching
Matched 94%
Unidentified 6%
Matching 23%
Distribution 71%
Unidentified 6%
• There are 6 songwriters for each song on average
• Songwriter Splits are not agreed upon
• Notifications to the CMO are minimal or non-existent
• Where CMOs have the data, it is not given priority
• Notifications & splits therein vary with each CMO
• NO CCID = NO PAYMENT !!!
