Since its founding in 2005, KPMG LLP’s African American Network (AAN) has grown to 16 chapters and over 2,000 members across the country.

AAN’s mission is to develop next generation leaders by supporting African-American partners and employees in their pursuit of professional excellence through career advising and sponsorship, leadership development, and credentialing that promotes retention and advancement. AAN is also committed to fostering inclusion, enhancing cultural awareness, and making a difference through volunteer efforts that address issues in underserved communities.

AAN advisory board The AAN Advisory Board includes senior leaders from across the firm, all of whom have a clear vision and strong commitment to driving the firm’s diversity and inclusion. The Board has established four subcommittees to help drive the Network’s national objectives:

— Recruitment – Supports the development of a robust, diverse talent pipeline at all levels of the firm.

— Retention – Focuses on talent sustainability by exposing members to partners and other senior leaders who can provide valuable advice, help them navigate their careers, and support their success in a high-performance culture.

— Advancement – Provides insights on how to build the reputational capital needed to accelerate development and career progression.

— Business Process Group – Addresses the specific needs of our Business Process Group professionals, providing guidance to help them manage their careers while increasing their visibility and marketability in

the workplace.

Representative activities AAN’s Advisory Board offers a broad range of programs and experiences for partners and professionals across all functions and levels, at every stage of their career.

— Howard University ‘We’re About Success’ – Enhances the leadership skills of African-American associates; supports their successful long-term integration into professional services, enhancing retention and credentialing.

— Mentoring Circles – Small group virtual connections for associates, senior associates and managers designed to facilitate cross-functional networking; strengthen peer support; provide career perspectives on advancing to the next level; and increase knowledge as “student of the firm.”

— Leadership Insights Summit – Target audience is diverse (African-American, Asian Pacific Islander, Hispanic Latino) senior managers/directors, executive directors and managing directors. Participants build networks and gain knowledge and tools to expand their understanding of the firm’s business, and accelerate opportunities for credentialing, leading, and engaging high-performing teams.

— Leadership Essentials – A series of sessions designed for all career-levels that helps participants enhance their leadership profile, provides exposure to Network and Firm leaders and fosters peer networking.

— National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) – Each year, KPMG sponsors the participation of AAN members in the NABA national convention. Over 100 KPMGers take part in several days of networking, technical sessions, and workshops.
