Training/Time I spend on this

• I have football training once a week for Montmorency. Goes for about an hour. Then there’s a game on Sunday that go for 2 hours.

• Plus whichever representative sides (NFL, Northern Knights, Vic Metro) you make is additional training, usually an extra 2 nights a week. I also do goal umpiring for seniors football, which takes up most of my Saturdays.

What got me interested?

• Well I grew up watching football on TV. My dad played football back in his day. Also our family likes football a lot, so that got me interested. Also it is a great game to play.

• I did ‘Auskick’ for 2 years and that developed my skills and interests a fair bit.

A Recommendation

• AFL is a great physically active sport. You’ll always be fit and healthy if you keep playing this sport. You can make careers out of it, such as coaches, nutritionists, tactics coach etc.. and player. Players and coaches for the AFL get heaps of money.

• Chris Judd gets $1million per year, who wouldn’t want that money?!

AFL History

• Tom Wills, one of the founders of AFL football, made the sport so cricketers could keep fit in the off-season. The first recorded match ever was between Scotch College and Melbourne Grammar School. The first club formed in 1858 which was the Melbourne Football Club. The Victorian Football League was established in 1896 and the first ever round robin was played.

• The game has changed so much from then, it is now a lot faster and there are a lot more skills involved.
