General properties:

Protection rather limited, 12-15 months only

Only antifouling type that can be safely applied over soft (bitouminous) primers

The binder oxidizes and is sensitive to sunlight

Sensitive to oil pollution (both mineral and fish oils)

Subject to cold flow

General properties:

Fouling protection for 18-24 months is possible in normal to severe fouling conditions

The coating can be reactivated by scrubbing

The empty matrix must be sealed off at redocking

The empty matrix may be clogged by pollution, blocking off the toxicants

The empty matrix contributes to increasing roughness development
