Moda Hotel Vancouver, BC

This prehistoric hotel built in 1908 is situated in the heart of the Arts & Entertainment district of downtown Vancouver. The hotel consists of 57 rooms that hold a modern contemporary interior design look and feel. Situated inside the hotel lobby, hotel guests can wine and dine at the Uva Wine Bar and Cibo Trattoria. When the hotel needed a more efficient way of heating and cooling, they chose Aermec for the solution. With 15 tons of cooling as the building requirement, the following list of Aermec's products were installed: One of the great benefits Aermec was able to offer, was being able to operate the units as heat pumps with a boiler for backup for a complete heating system. Each suite has its own fan coil with wireless thermostat which also connects wirelessly to the reservation bridge of the main lobby. The benefits of this wireless system is so that rooms that are not occupied by guests are not being heated or cooled, thus saving energy.

Cranberry Resort Collingwood,

Cranberry Resort, set against the panoramic backdrop of Blue Mountain and the beautiful waters of Georgian Bay, is a world-renowned, 750 acre year-round vacation destination. All suites and meeting rooms have their own fan coil and thermostat, allowing for individual tenant temperature control (zoning). The system saves energy and is very efficient due to the flexibility to change the temperature in areas and suites that are not in use during the day or evening.

The Beverly Hilton Beverly Hills,

Built in 1955, this mega-structure hotel composed of 570 bedrooms, restaurants, well-being centre, shopping centre, garden, and swimming pool, was

completely remodeled in 2003. The total cost of bringing the hotel back to its splendor was 80 million dollars. Today, the Beverly Hilton is among the most elegant hotels in Los Angeles, regularly visited by Hollywood fame. Aermec fan coils were chosen for complete comfort and for their low decibel sound levels. The fan coils used are mainly the 'PO' version, for high priority ducted mounting. The 7 to 7.5kW may seem unusual for a hotel, but they are required due to the size of the larger than average bedrooms and the requirements of the guests. The designers also requested high capacity in order to obtain 'sensitive' air conditioning.

The community of Granville at 70th is defined by a host of vibrant features including live green-walls, rooftop groves and gardens, an outdoor yoga pavilion, indoor/outdoor entertainment lounge, a putting green, library, theatre, and "The Granville Club", with gym facilities, steam room and sauna.

NOAA Weather Station

Caribou, Maine

This facility serves as the primary means of gathering weather data in the northeast region of the United States. The new construction and renovation of the building was completed in 2002 and was rated Silver (34 points) by the US Green Building Council. It is recognized as a LEED Certified building. Two Aermec 20 ton Heat Pumps/Chillers with low ambient cooling serve a great purpose to this green building installed alongside 2 dry coolers for free cooling.

area and -4ºc glycol for the production of Ice Wine. The system is configured so that the client may use heating, cooling, and refrigeration at the same time or have the system in any combination of heating, cooling, refrigeration or ice production.

Browning Harvey Ltd St.John's,

The Pepsi plant in St. John’s, Newfoundland needed to improve the performance of their can filling process. When water and soda pop syrup are mixed, the temperature of the mixture increases. If the temperature of the mixture is too high, CO² will not remain in solution, preventing full filling of the cans, which are then rejected; hence the need for the water to be as cold as possible. Additionally, the release of CO² into the plant creates an indoor air quality problem. Extraction systems have been installed, but unless fresh outdoor air is introduced, their effectiveness is reduced. This sets up two energy use scenarios, increased power to produce colder water and the need to reheat outdoor air as it is introduced. The solution was to install 4 Aermec air-to water (glycol) heat pumps that will perform both water chilling and air or plant heating. The heat pumps are fully utilized and produce heating at a cost advantage.

Movie Set Essex,

Massachusetts

In 2009 the movie “Grown ups” was filmed. The movie was filmed during a spring, that was cold one day and hot the next. Luckily the equipment used to heat and cool the set was not your typical rental units that most movies sets would have. Two Aermec 10 ton heat pumps were installed along with 10 of the worlds quietest fan coils. A typical movie set uses portable units and for an hour before shoot time they cool the set. Then they shut down the air conditioning, turn on all the lights and start the shoot. When the first drop of perspiration shows they stop shooting, turn off the lights, turn on the cooling, take a break and start again. With the Aermec system installed they turned on the cooling, turned on the lights and started shooting. They never turned the cooling off because they could not hear it. The Aermec heat pumps switched back and forth from heating to cooling as the weather changed and they just kept shooting. It was reported by the local rep that they saved $10,000 per day in costs.

Prince George is a future home to one of BC Hydro’s largest regional operations in the Province of B.C. The new field office will serve over two-thirds of the provincial land base, including 160,000 business and residential customers in northern BC.

server room has a load of 100 tons at all times

which will provide over 1,200,000 BTU/H of

free heating in winter. The free heat will actually

supply the total building heating load and thus

there will be no heating bills.

Cooper Mills Retail Mall

Etobicoke, ON

This retail mall in Etobicoke, Ontario was due for a renovation. An engineering firm was hired

to decide which heating and cooling solution was best for present and future. Many systems were considered including geothermal as well as conventional ducted systems. In the end, Aermec was the logical choice. Two 20 ton Aermec Heat Pumps complete with self contained pumps and storage tanks and 21 Aermec High Static fan coils complete with digital thermostats were installed. The high efficiency boilers supply 2nd stage heating.

Pan Am Games 2015, Toronto, 720

Pan American Games is a major international multi-sport event that is scheduled to be held from July 10-26, 2015 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Aermec NRL chillers and Free Cooling chillers were chosen to supply chilled water for the Athlete Village Housing; the Village section will provide accommodations for athletes and officials. After the games, it will be converted into condos.

Kamloops Gold mine in

British Columbia.

Two Aermec NRL3000 Free Cooling Chillers complete with 2 high pressure pumps and internal tanks were selected for a Gold Mine in B.C. New Afton is New Gold's primary development project and is expected to commence production in the second half of 2012. It is located 10km from Kamloops, British Columbia. New Afton will be an underground mine, which will produce an annual average of 75 million pounds of copper and 80,000 ounces of gold over a 12 year mine life. Utility-owned 138 kV power lines, gas and oil pipelines cross the property.

Process cooling for food factory,

A 5 ton Aermec chiller is being used to provide cold water in the processing of granola bars. The chilled water is used to cool the granola bars down during production. The units flexibility, quiet operation, and ability to produce chilled glycol/water to as low as -6°C, were key features for choosing Aermec.

Surrey Memorial Hospital is the second largest hospital in British Columbia and has the busiest emergency department. As of 2011, SMH provides service to over 93,000 emergency room patients per year. In 2012 AERMEC supplied three NRL3600 heat pumps with total heat recovery to provide 750 ton of cooling and Free/Recovered heating all year around.

Built in 1917 and completely renovated in 2006 with a design that has entirely maintained the historical facade, while bringing the use of all that current technology has to offer. The building includes classrooms, rehearsal rooms, offices and a large library, which has been tripled in size with respect to the previous one. Three concert rooms, housing 450, 160 and 120 seats. The approximate cost of the project was 80 million dollars. Aermec fan coils were selected based on their silent operation. Electronic heat elements of 1.5kW to 11.5kW were installed. Of the 179 fan coils, 1/3 are cased and the remaining 2/3 are ducted fan coils.

The Junior School is a newly constructed LEEDS designated “green” building. The floor plans were designed in conjunction with input from the Vision 2008 Committee who spent countless hours consulting and visiting other schools to determine what would best suit the needs of Queen Margaret’s students. The result is a Junior School that retains many of the comforts of a small school but with additions of larger classrooms and new specialized classrooms which enhance the students learning experience. The 20,000 square foot Junior School is an exciting milestone in the School’s evolution. Lake Washington STEM Middle

school, Redmond, Washington.

A NRL 600 HA was selected as the primary heating and cooling plant in this primarily heating application. Two characteristics of the Aermec design were critical: low-temperature heating performance and defrost strategy. The Pacific NW is notoriously challenging for heat pump controls; fog (Seattle’s the foggiest city in North America) and average winter conditions of 41°F (5°C) with 80%RH make frost control a 24/7 issue for most of the heating season. The unit was sized to provide all the building heat required down to about 35°F, with boilers as supplemental heating and backup for the 300 or so hours per year when the outside air falls below this temperature. Summer cooling requirements are low in this coastal marine environment. You would never guess from the architecture, but this

new LEED platinum middle school is actually a

modular structure. The main building elements,

including HVAC controls, electrical, hydronic, and

plumbing components were built offsite and trucked

200 miles to the site for final assembly and

integration. An Alerton BMS manages the buildings

fan coils and individual room thermostats, adjusting

supply water temperatures in the 2-pipe system to

meet heating and cooling requirements.

St.Lawrence the Martyr Church

Aermec fan coils were installed and the existing radiator covers were reinstalled. All piping was run in the existing basement pipe chase. Fan coils were hung at the ceiling in the banquet hall utilizing the existing pipe chase as well. Two new condensing boilers replace the existing natural gas boiler.

No changes were made to the beautiful sanctuary, and a system that was quieter than opening the windows installed. Both sanctuary and banquet hall could be cooled and zoned for comfort. High efficient heating and all within budget.

Small Residential Toronto,

Ontario

This home had a legal basement business and two apartments on the main floor. When the owners decided to replace the heating system, they felt it was time to add air conditioning. The home had existing radiators for heating. With no room for duct work in the basement office, the owners decided to use the Aermec system. Fan coils were installed in the offices and apartments and an Aermec heat pump was also installed. A Heating Box and a Noritz Tankless water heater provide the backup heat and hot water. Each apartment and the office can control their own temperature.

The owners, (Family of the late Ted Rogers, from Rogers Communications) wanted to replace 6 old Carrier cooling systems which were noisy and taking up space around the home. The solution to this problem was 3 Aermec Chillers discreetly placed at the side of the home, operating at super quiet levels. A Government Subsidized complex building situated in British Columbia consisting of 6 four-plex units and a main administration center. The agencies were looking for a comfortable energy efficient, cost efficient HVAC system for their new Centre. Geothermal heat pumps, air to air heat pumps were considered along with the Aermec air to water system. The Aermec system was chosen on comfort, long term

operational costs and lower maintenance costs. Each apartment has its own thermostat and each bedroom, living room, kitchen have their own thermostat as well.

Independent Living Centre

This non-profit housing development is funded by the Province of British Columbia, through BC Housing, under the Aboriginal Housing Initiative. For zoned comfort in each of the homes, Aermec FCX Fan Coils were installed with an additional electric heater within the fan coils to provide backup heat.
