The word aeon, also spelled eon or æon, originally means ‘life,’ and/or ‘being,’ though it then tended to mean ‘age, forever’ or ‘for eternity.’ In Homer, it typically refers to life or life span. Its latest meaning is similar to the Sanskrit word, kalpa, and Hebrew word, olam. A cognate Latin word aevum or aeuum for ‘age,’ is present in words such as longevity and mediæval.

Although the term aeon may be used in reference to a period of a billion years, (especially in geology, cosmology, or astronomy,) its more common usage is for any long, indefinite period of time.

Aëon Illumination is the fusion between design and industry. Materials combine to create designs, which last and are not merely of the moment. The collection is composed of light fittings sourced from around the world and will continue to develop, to encompass the notion of longevity in both design and product.

With a nod to the old Edison style lamps, the Filament pedant draws on a rich history. As the name suggests, the design is inspired by intricate wire looms. For best effect, lamp this luminaire with an old style lamp or use large fancy round compact fluorescent lamps. Standard finishes are copper, silver and black powder coat, however custom finishes are available.

The Sõrmus is a soft ambient light fitting which uses gentle curves to provide an ambient light. The simple elongated domed lampshade is held up by an arched metal arm. This clean design has been finished in satin white.

Reflecting the traditional cooking pot, the Tajine’s lamp shade design is made from a two part spun aluminium form. The light fitting is available in single or dual colour options as well as wide and tall options.
