2.6 Inserting and deleting Rows and Columns:

Inserting rows/columns in excel can be done in more than one way. I will use below methods as they are very easy to implement.Inserting Rows:Method-1a. Select a row where you want to insert a row as shown below.

Tip: To select the entire row click on the number as shown below

b. After selecting the row, right click the mouse and below menu should appear.

c. Click on Insert as highlighted below.

d. A new row will be inserted as shown below.

Method-2a. Select a cell from a row where you want to insert a new row as shown below.

b. Select Home>>Insert>>Insert Sheet Rows as shown below.

c. A new row will be inserted in Excel as shown below.

Inserting Columns in Excel: It is similar to inserting rows. Instead of rows, here we need to select columns. Below we have provided two methods to accomplish the task. You can use either of them, with which you are comfortable.

Method-1:a. Select a column where you want to insert a new column as shown below.

b. After selecting the entire column, right click on the mouse and select Insert as shown below.

c. As shown below a new column will be inserted.

Method -2:a. Select a cell or column where you want to insert a column.

b. Select Home>>Insert>>Insert Sheet Columns as shown below.

c. A new column will be inserted as shown below.

Deleting Rows:This procedure is same as inserting rows. Instead of selecting insert we need to select delete option from the menu.Deleting Columns:Deleting columns is similar to inserting columns. Instead of selecting Insert , we need to select delete from drop down list.
