Chapter 1 Description
Description
Application Optima SMT (Software Migration Tool is intended for updating software andbacking up the Advance Optima Analyzer System configuration files.
Versions Optima SMT is available as a full version and a basic version.
Full Version The Optima SMT full version offers complete functionality.
CAUTION!
We strongly recommend obtaining training from ABB Analytical prior to usingthe full version of Optima SMT. The risks of improper use include damagingor destroying the Advance Optima configuration.
Basic Version The Optima SMT Light basic version has reduced functionality compared to thefull version. It is contained on the free "Advance Optima" CD-ROM that is suppliedas standard equipment with Advance Optima.

The PC or laptop computer on which Optima SMT is to be installed must meet thefollowing requirements:
• Windows 95 or Windows NT (≥ 4.0) operating system• Minimum of 16 MB free memory (RAM)• Minimum of 10 MB free hard disk space• CD-ROM Drive• Ethernet interface• Ethernet connection with TCP/IP protocol
User Knowledge The user should be familiar with the operation of Windows 95 or Windows NT.

Set TCP/IP Parameters on PC/Laptop
Basic Settings Certain basic TCP/IP protocol settings are required for network operation.
IP Address An IP address must be set. Use "Start → Settings → Control Panel → Network →Protocols → TCP/IP Protocol → Properties" (see Figure 1) to configure this addresson your PC/Laptop.
Peer-to-PeerConnection
For a peer-to-peer connection enter 192.168.1.2 if you have not changed theAdvance Optima IP address. The Advance Optima default address is 192.168.1.1.Set the subnet mask as shown in Figure 1.
Network Connection To connect via an existing Ethernet network, ask the system administrator for anavailable IP address, subnet mask and, if necessary, a gateway address.

Two Methods There are two means of establishing an Ethernet connection:• Peer-to-peer (see Figure 2, page 8)• Connection via an Ethernet network (see Figure 3, page 8)

Test EthernetConnection
To test the Ethernet connection, use the command line (DOS window) or "Start →Run" to run: "ping IP address" (where the IP address is the Advance Optima address).
If the connection is operational the system will return "Reply from IP Address:bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=255" (the numbers displayed are system-dependent).
If the message returned is "Request timed out" there is a problem with the networkconnection. Contact the system administrator.

Install SMT on PC/Laptop
CAUTION!
When the full version shall be installed instead of the basic version it isnecessary to uninstall the basic version. Otherwise the full version will notrun properly.
Uninstall Old ProgramVersion
Before installing the new version, uninstall the old version.
Unpack Files Follow the instructions on the software package. Some files may need to beunpacked prior to installation.
Optima SMTInstallation
Run "Setup.exe" on diskette 1 or in the "disk 1" subdirectory.
The program will perform all required installation steps.
Directory Structure The following directory will be used unless you specify another path at install time:
C:\Program Files\AdvanceSystemTools\Optima SMT
Program Files The files installed are listed in the Readme.txt file provided with the Optima SMTprogram.

Start Optima SMT Start → Programs → Advance System Tools → Optima SMT → SMT
Enter the DeviceAddress
Enter the device address (= IP address, see "Check Advance Optima TCP/IPParameter", page 5) in the "Configuration → Set connection address" menu.
The device address entered is displayed on the status line.
Select Update Method
Select the update method in the "Configuration → Set update method" menu.
The update method selected is displayed on the status line.
Update This is the preferred update method. This method will load firmware and systemsoftware for the update. When updating versions <V1.3.0 the BIOS will be loadedfirst.
Update with BIOS This method will first load the BIOS and then firmware and system software for theupdate.
Firmware only This method will only update the firmware. After that select "Load new software" inthe "Migration" menu. This will not delete any analyzer system configuration dataand such data will not need to be reloaded.
CAUTION!
The update via the "Select download file" function should only be performedby suitably trained users after consulting with ABB Analytical. Improper usecan result in damage to or destruction of the analyzer system configuration.

Set the ConfigurationFile Name
Enter the directory and name for the configuration file in the "Configuration → Setarchive file name" menu.
The configuration file is saved as an ASCII file. There are no conventions for filenames or extensions.
The configuration file is accessed• when saving configuration data using the
"Migration → Save configuration data" menu, see page 16• when loading configuration data using the following menus:

Set the User InterfaceLanguage
The "Configuration → Set language file" menu is used to enter the name of thetext file containing the two analyzer system user interface languages that will beloaded in the analyzer system when performing an update.
If no selection is made, the language combination loaded and the languageselected on the analyzer system will remain in effect.
The text file name is displayed on the status line.

Perform Update
What softwareversions can beupdated?
The software that can be updated are listed in the Readme.txt file contained in theOptima SMT program.
Software Versions< V 1.1.7
It is not possible to perform a complete configuration update of analyzer systemswith software versions <V 1.1.7. Only the serial numbers of the installed modulesare saved and reloaded. For this, the "Save configuration data" menu contains aquery as to whether the simplified update should be continued.
� Update is only possible with the full version of Optima SMT.
Perform Update
Select the "Migration → Update software" menu and click the "Yes" button in thedialog box that appears.
The update will automatically run in three steps:

1 Saving configuration data from Advance Optima in the file selectedusing the "Configuration → Set archive file name" menu (see page 11).
2 Booting the Advance Optima, loading system software, rebooting.
3 Loading configuration data from the selected Advance Optima files;"Save configuration" in Advance Optima.

Update via aTFTP Server
Update via a TFTP server is used if during an update the Advance Optimaconnection is terminated and cannot be reestablished.
CAUTION!
The update using the "TFTPServer" function should only be performed bysuitably trained users after consulting with ABB Service since this methodrequires access to Advance Optima hardware.
Establish Connection Start the HyperTerminal program in Windows 95/NT Accessories and establish aconnection using the following values:

Perform Update
In the "TFTP Server" menu select either "Single call" or "Continuous".
Activate the HyperTerminal window. Turn the analyzer system off and on again(Restart). After a few seconds, press the RETURN key within a second as shown inthe instructions in the HyperTerminal window. Next enter or change the followingvalues:

Replace the Serial Number in a Configuration File
"Replace serialnumber" Tool
The configuration data from an analyzer system can be transferred to a differentsystem using the "Replace serial number" tool.
The serial number of a system module can be changed in a saved configurationfile. The modified configuration file can be loaded into an analyzer system.
CAUTION!
The applicable system module (analyzer module or I/O board) type andconfiguration must be absolutely identical in the configuration file andanalyzer system. Otherwise the analyzer system configuration can bedamaged or destroyed.
Step Action
1 Make a backup copy of the configuration file before proceeding.
2 Select the name of the configuration file in the "Configuration → Setarchive file name" menu (see page 11).
3 Select the "Tools → Replace serial number" menu.
4 Select the serial number to be changed in the "System Modules SerialNumber" field.
5 Replace the serial number in the "Replace specified serial number"field.
6 Use "Set" to enter the changed serial number in the configuration file.
7 Close the dialog box by clicking "OK"; this will save the changes to theconfiguration file.
8 Load the modified configuration file in the analyzer system using"Migration → Load configuration data" (see page 16).
Procedure
9 For additional analyzer system hardware, the analyzer systemconfiguration must be changed after the configuration file is loaded.

"Change language"Tool
The "Change language" tool is used to load into an analyzer system a text filecontaining two languages for the user interface.
By default, German and English are loaded into the analyzer system.

Output Log Contents
"Logbook list" Tool
The "Logbook list" tool is used to save the contents of an analyzer system orconfiguration file log as text (logbook listing); in this format it can be processedusing MS Excel. Additionally, the log can be viewed on the screen.

Save log as text file
1 To save the Advance Optima log: Set the Advance Optima IP addressusing the "Configuration → Set connection address" menu (see page10).To save the Advance Optima log as a configuration file: Select thename of the configuration file in the "Configuration → Set archive filename" menu (see page 11).
2 Select either "Logbook from AO device" or "Logbook from archive file"in the "Tools → Logbook list" menu. Select "View Report" to displaythe log on screen.
3 Use the "Browse" button to select a file name or enter the name of thefile to which the log is to be saved.
4 Save the log as a text file using the "OK" button.
Open text file in MS Excel
1 Open the saved text file in MS Excel. The Text Assistant isautomatically started.
2 In step 1 select the default settings by clicking "Continue".
3 In step 2 select "Tab" and "{none}" as text delimiters. Click the"Continue" button.
4 In step 3, in "Preview Marked Data", mark all columns and select"Text" as the data format. Click the "Finish" button.
Procedure
5 The logbook listing will be displayed in sequence, sorted from mostrecent to oldest entries. In the "Status" column, appearing messagesare marked with "+", canceled messages with a "-" and informationalmessages with "+-". Acknowledged messages are shown with a "q"following the status symbol.

"System overview"Tool
The "System overview" tool has the following functions:• Display the system overview (including navigation using links, see page 21),• Print the system overview,• Save the system overview as an ASCII file.
� The "System overview" can only display a view of the connected analyzer system;it cannot display the contents of a saved system overview file.
� The tree view and navigation capabilities are only found in the full version ofOptima SMT.

1 Set the Advance Optima IP address using the "Configuration → Setconnection address“ menu (see page 10).
2 Display the system overview: Select the "Tools → System overview"menu. A tree view is displayed in the left pane. The right pane showsthe details of the element selected in the tree view.
Save the system overview: Select the "File → Save as" menu and enteror select the file name in which the system overview is to be saved.
Procedure
Print the system overview: Select the "File → Print" menu.
� A print preview is possible using the "File → Print preview" menu.
� The "Print" and "Print preview" commands are only available ifthe cursor is in the tree view pane.
� Use the "Options → Printer font" menu to select the printer fontto be used for print output. This setting also applies to the printpreview.
Navigating in theSystem Overview
The detail view of most elements contains linked fields that are shown in white.Clicking on one of these fields brings up the detail view of the element selected.
Example 1:The system overview detail view contains lists of analyzer modules and I/Omodules. Clicking on these names brings up the detail view of the analyzer moduleselected.
Example 2:The function block detail view has the input and output fields linked. Double-clicking one of these fields brings up the detail view of any function blockassociated with this input or output.
