It is only 50m away from both the bus and train stations. There is limited free parking available. A crèche for under 5’s is available on site for parents/carers attending courses.
During treatment for health problems, I started attending Adult Education courses. After completing English & Beauty courses, I now attend C & G Level 2 Cake Decorating Techniques & Design. These courses have really given me

Minsthorpe Community College has both daytime and evening provision for Adult Education courses. The campus is open from early morning until 21:00 in the evening. For anyone with children under school age we have a fully registered day care centre which is open Mon to Fri 08:00 - 18:00. St Marys Community Centre in the heart of Chequerfield has a full range of Adult Education courses for all your training needs. We offer rooms to rent both on an hourly basis and on a long term lease. We have an in house buffet service and cafe that serves hot drinks and snacks all day. How to enrolFor up to date details of courses on offer from the Adult Education and Community Learning Centres in the Wakefield District, you can visit our website at www.wakefield.gov.uk/adulteducation
Decide on the course you are interested in.• Contact your chosen centre for a course information
leaflet and enrolment form or look online.• Return the completed and signed enrolment form
to your local centre. You can do this by post if you wish.• Your centre can advise you if the course is free.• You can pay by cash, cheque or visa.
Contact your local centre who can give you advice on the content and level of the course.
They will be able to match a course to your needs and tell you about progression opportunities.
Free courses for adults who are under 24, out of work, on state benefits and seeking employment on any course.
Free courses for adults 24+ who are out of work on state benefits and seeking employment for courses up to level 2.
Loans are available for most level 3 courses please ask for further details.
Free courses for adults who need help to improve their English and Maths
Free non-vocational courses for those aged over 60 and in receipt of means tested benefits or unwaged dependants of those on benefits.
Free courses for those aged 19 to 23 who are studying a first full level 2 or first full level 3.
Free entry or level 1 courses for those aged 19 to 23 who don’t have a full level 2.
A bursary scheme for 16-19 year olds on low incomes.
Additional support for learners who need extra help to get the most from their course this may include extra tutor time to help you with your study.
Help with childcare costs or a place in one of our crèches.
Help with bus fares.
