The MOU – Museum of Oudenaarde and the Flemish Ardennes organizes an ambious exhibion devoted to the Flemish master Adriaen Brouwer (1606, Oudenaarde – 1638, Antwerp), contemporary of Pieter-Paul Rubens. Exhibition Adriaen Brouwer, generally accepted to be born in Oudenaarde, was the son of a tapestry cartoon painter. From an art-historical point of view, Brouwer’s works are of an exceponal importance: he is the bridging figure between the sixteenth-century Bruegel tradion and the landscape and genre scenes of the seventeenth century. Despite the fame he enjoyed during his lifeme, the arst (sll) has not reached the fame of contemporaries like Rubens or Van Dyck today. Yet he was very talented and his works highly esmated; among others Rubens and Rembrandt were enthusiasc collectors. Brouwer was one of the most creave and innovave arsts of his me. Brouwer is an integral part of the cultural identy of Oudenaarde and Flanders; his name echoes in various products and events. The exhibion in the MOU Museum will be the first monographic show gathering a large amount of the arst’s oeuvre. This is a once in a lifeme opportunity. Art trail Experience Brouwer’s world through an outdoor trail in the historic centre. Curator Jan Hoet jr. brings arsts together who will use their creavity to deliver high- quality intervenons in town. 15 september 2018 - 16 december 2018 OUDENAARDE PRACTICAL INFORMATION www.mou-oudenaarde.be MOU Museum Oudenaarde Markt 1, B-9700 Oudenaarde Belgium +32 (0)55 31 72 51 [email protected] www.adriaenbrouwer.be TICKETS Individual: 10 EUR Groups: 8 EUR pp Guided tours (2 hours): 60 EUR Guided tours in 5 languages (Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish) Audio-guides OPENING HOURS Tuesday to Sunday: 9.30 - 6 pm Thursday: open unl 10 pm Closed on Monday ACCESSIBILITY Coach parking available nearby.
