DCCU Faculties

“Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University is one of the largest private universities in Romania, Europe. Professor Momcilo Luburici Ph.D., and Professor Corina Dumitrescu, Ph.D., the founders of “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University, have steadily financially and energetically supported this private academic entity so as to be included among the elite higher education institutions in the world. They also chose to name this university after Dimitrie Cantemir, the 18th century Prince philosopher, a representative scholar of the Enlightenment and member of Berlin Academy of Sciences over the educational and scientific research diligence, as the spiritual figure of the University.

“Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University has its main headquarters in Bucharest and branches in Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara. The five faculties in Bucharest offer undergraduate and graduate programs: The Faculty of Juridical and Administrative Science, The Faculty of Tourism and Commercial Management, The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, The Faculty of Education Sciences, and The Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures (with programs for 10 foreign languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Japanese, Russian Chinese, and Korean as an optional language). The faculties in Cluj-Napoca offer undergraduate and graduate programs for The Faculty of Law and The Faculty of Economical Sciences and the one in Timișoara offer undergraduate and graduate programs for The Faculty of Tourism and Commercial Management.

Further to our students’ graduation, their successful careers will certify the solid training endeavour and competence of the University’s professional staff who together with all students, alumni, national and international partners have greatly contributed to the development of the modern society.

International Strategies “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University has always welcomed the international cooperation agreements and collaborative projects with universities, research institutions, public entities, cultural institutes, heritage institutions, non-governmental organizations, business environment representatives all around the world. DCCU is affiliated with many foreign entities and forms in Europe and all over the world being always open to further international collaborations (dual diplomas, joint undergraduate and graduate programs) which will have a great positive impact over the future development of our higher education institution.The international strategies of the university have covered many directions: congresses, conferences, forums, workshops, invited, guest speakers, visiting professors, ERASMUS exchanges programs for students and teaching staff, internship programs for academics, undergraduate and graduate students, networking projects.“Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University hosts The UNESCO Chair – Culture of Human Rights and Education for Sustainable Development in Pre – School and Primary Education that allows the University to create centers of excellence and innovation on the topics of Agenda 2030 through exchanges and joint research, to strengthen national, regional and international partnerships, networks and consortia.

Each faculty has benefited from having invited international keynote speakers for conferences, workshops, summers schools, and other scientific events. Bachelor’s Studies or the Preparatory year of Romanian)a. copy in case the studies diploma is in Romanian/English/French/Spanish/Italian ;b. copy and certified translation, certified by the competent authorities of the

issuing country in case the studied diploma is from another country than the ones mentioned;

c. copy and certified translation of the certificate for the passed baccalaureate exam in the current year;

d. for Master programs, Bachelor and Diploma Supplement certified translation by the Embassy/ Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country or Romanian ones;

Benefits• 15% discount of the tuition fee is provided for the candidates, members of the same

family, for graduates from a faculty within DCCU or other universities, as well as for students who simultaneously attend the courses of two faculties within DCCU.

• The first three students enrolled in full-time attendance programs ranked according to their studies results benefit from a 15% discount of the tuition fee during the next year of studies.

• The candidates who are admitted to Bachelor’s Degree Studies and pay their tuition fee until October 7, 2021 benefit from a 50 € discount.

Exemption from legalization is permitted under the law of an international treaty to which Romania is a party or on a reciprocal basis. Moldovan diplomas apostille or legalization is not required. Diplomas issued prior to 2008 (and diplomas issued after 2008 can not be verified through the portal) will be accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity issued by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova in the original. Admission information 2021Admission to BA programs is based on the average grade of the baccalaureate exam. Admission to MA programs is based on the average grade of the Bachelor’s exam. There are two stages of admission:

In order to be enrolled as students the candidates have to pay full tuition fee (with a 50 € discount) or partially (minimum 50%) until August 16, 2021 for those registered in the 1st stage and until October 7, 2021 for those registered in the 2nd stage.

Useful informationThe Faculty of Juridical and Administrative Sciences combines the study of both legal sciences and administrative management for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs and provides high level education for the students, a wide range of professional competence, enabling them to pursue different careers in the juridical and administrative activity field.

Labour Market OpportunitiesThe Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs at The Faculty of Law and Administration offer particular education for specialists in juridical theory and practice: judge, prosecutor, lawyer, notary, legal adviser, bailiff; jobs in central and local public administration: local council secretary, social welfare officer, central and local administration inspector, public administration expert, expert or counselor in the coordination of programs run by the European Union or by non-governmental organizations.

Labour Market OpportunitiesThe curriculum of the faculty offers the chance to develop the necessary professional skills that will enable graduates to be employed on the Romanian labor market, skills that are certified by obtaining internationally recognized certificates based on the Faculty’s agreements with cultural and testing centers such as: British Council, the Association of Japanese Language Teachers in Romania, The Italian Institute of Culture, the French Institute, “Yunus Emre” Turkish Cultural Institute, “Friederich Schiller” Cultural House, the Wallonie-Brussels Delegation in Bucharest, “Constantin Brăiloiu” Institute of Ethnography and Folklore, “Iorgu Iordan-Al. Romanian Preparatory Year for Foreign Citizens

The Romanian Preparatory Year for Foreign Citizens of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures within Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University aims at training and developing language and communication skills in Romanian for non-native speakers, and growing foreign interest in Romanian culture and civilization. After attending this two semester program of intensive study of Romanian language, students will achieve oral and written communication skills of B1 - B2 level according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).The program includes intensive practical training seminars of Romanian language and civilization and Romanian for specific purposes: biology & biomedicine, sciences, social sciences, engineering, mathematics, sports, humanities & the arts. At the end of two semesters of study the participating students will receive a Certificate of Linguistic Competence and will be able to enroll and attend any faculty of Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University or any faculty from other higher education institutions in Romania.

The Teacher TrainingDepartment

Useful informationThe Teacher Training Department (Ro. D.P.P.D.) is an institutional structure that provides training, counseling and expertise in the field of initial and steady training for students and graduates of higher education in case they choose a teaching career.The TTD has the mission to conceive, design and conduct activities for the students’ selection and guidance towards a teaching career, offering high-quality psycho-pedagogical study programs during both university and post-graduate studies for both levels of certification for the teaching profession (Cf. M.O. no. 4316 / June 3, 2008).The TTD areas of expertise cover curriculum, learning, training methodology, evaluation, modern communication techniques, intercultural education, educational policies, and specialized didactics.

In order to be enrolled in the Psycho-pedagogical Module, Level I, the Romanian and foreign candidates must have the same documents as for the Bachelor’s degree programs (see pag. 5). The foreign candidates must also have the Graduation Certificate of the Romanian preparatory year or the Foreign Language Certificate (C1).

In order to be enrolled in the Psycho-pedagogical Module, Level II, the Romanian and foreign candidates must have the same documents as for the Master’s degree programs (see pag. 5). The candidates must also have the Graduation Certificate of the Psycho-pedagogical Module, Level I or its equivalent certificate issued by NME. The foreign candidates must also have the Graduation Certificate of the Romanian preparatory year or the Foreign Language Certificate (C1 level).

Studies in RomaniaForeign candidates have the opportunity to study in Romania after they enrol in and are accepted by the educational institution they want to study at.The next step is to obtain a long-stay visa for studies, from the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania. (See their list at: http://www.mae.ro/romanian-missions).

Long Stay VisaThe long-stay visa for studies can be granted, upon request, to foreigners demanding entry into Romania as a student, trainee or pupil. The state or private educational institution must be accredited according to law. The visa is also granted to foreigners accepted for studies based on the international exchanges Romania is a party of. To obtain a long-stay visa, students, master’s or doctoral student, and the participants in a student exchange program must submit the documents (see: http://igi.mai.gov.ro/en/content/studies)As an internal procedure, the long-stay visa is approved by the National Visa Centre only after obtaining the approval of the General Inspection Office for Immigration. The decision is issued within 30 days from the receipt of the request, with the possibility of term extension by 15 days.The long-stay visa is granted for 90 days (one or more trips included).

The special issues of the study visaForeigners participating in a student exchange program or educational project must be between 13 and 19 years old. The foreigners holding Romanian scholarship, the scholarship holders of state universities, accredited or provisionally authorized by law, full-time courses, are not required to submit the payment order of the tuition fees and the proof of the means of subsistence for the visa. The Romanian students are not compelled to prove the means of maintenance.

Residence PermitAfter entering Romania candidates must obtain a residence permit. It certifies your right to stay in Romania and candidates can obtain it from the territorial formations of the General Inspection Office for Immigration in the county where candidates live. In order to obtain a residence permit, candidates will personally submit a series of documents at least 30 days before the visa is expired.Candidates can also submit documents through the online application, available at https://portaligi.mai.gov.ro/portaligi/To extend the right of residence (obtaining a residence permit) for studies the candidates should submit documents listed at: http://igi.mai.gov.ro/en/content/studies

The right of temporary residence for studies may not be extended over 6 months after graduation, in order to complete the school or university studies, as well as to authorize the study documents on this account.Foreigners who have not completed their studies during the initially granted time frame may be granted a further extension of their right of residence, for the above mentioned purpose with a one year time extension.If the information or documents necessary for the right of residence are inadequate or incomplete, the General Inspection Office for Immigration shall provide to the applicant the additional information requested and set a reasonable time limit for sending it, in less than 30 days. The term provided above shall be suspended until the receipt of the necessary additional information or documents by the General Inspection Office for Immigration. If no additional information or documents have been provided by the deadline, the application may be turned down.Foreigners entering Romania for studies may request the extension of the right of residence for a period equal to the complete period of studies, in the case of students and pupils, and for a period not exceeding one year, in the case of foreigners participating in an exchange programThe right of temporary residence for studies can be extended by 9 months after graduation, to look for a job and perform formalities for employment or to open a business, with certifying documents of studies completion.

Employment During StudiesForeigners holding the right of temporary residence for studies can be employed in Romania without a work permit, only with an individual part-time employment contract for 4 hours working time per day.

The Right of Temporary Residence for the Study of MobilityForeigners holding a residence permit for study purposes or a valid long-stay visa for study purposes, issued by another EU Member State may enter and remain in up to 360 days. This is called student mobility and is without the obligation to obtain a visa if:

a. he/she participates in the courses of a higher education institution within European Union or multilateral programs comprising mobility measures or an agreement between two or more higher education institutions;

b. a notification was sent by the higher education institution to the General Inspection Office for Immigration of the respective county where the foreigner is to carry out his activity.

Changing the Study ProfileThe foreigner who has been granted or, as the case may be, extended the right to stay for study purposes in Romania may change the study profile or professional specialization, in accordance with the legislation in force, provided that the total duration of stay provided for initial studies not to be exceeded.If, by changing the study profile or professional specialization, the whole stay period provided for the initial studies is exceeded, it is necessary to obtain a new long-stay visa for study purposes.

Cost of Living in Romania

Rental costsRomania is a very affordable country. Students can opt for getting a place next to DCCU or close to a metro line for quick access to it. Prices may vary, but they are around:

• 50 € / month (if students choose to share a dorm room with other people). • 80 – 150 € / month if students share an apartment with other people. • 250 – 300 € / month for a decent studio.

Most rental places do not have utilities included in the rent, so students will pay between 30 – 100 € per month.

Food costsAround 200-300 € per month.

Transportation costsPublic transport options available: metro (in Bucharest) or bus/tram lines in Bucharest and the other cities (around 1 € one trip). On average, students get discounted prices for monthly passes, so they may pay around 10 € for unlimited rides on all lines.Travelling by train costs from 5 to 20 € /one ride ticket (depending on the distance).Travelling by domestic airplanes costs from 50-100 € / one ride ticket.

Student Health CareInternational students coming to study in Romania are entitled to get a medical insurance. To get the medical services from the university, students must possess a valid student card for the current year. Students can go for check up to a doctor provided by the university, in case of illness.EU citizens can use the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in Romania. The card offers free access to state hospitals and treatment facilities, but does not include private doctors or hospitals.Medical insurance: 10 € per month

Safety and SecurityRomania is one of the safest countries in Europe. University campuses in Romania have their own community police officers on site providing safety patrol 24-hours a day. Street CCTV cameras are placed everywhere in the campuses, thereby ensuring safety at all times.
