”Emory & Henry provides an academic environment that allows students to run freely with their intellectual interests and to pursue their passions to the fullest. My personal mission is to reduce and prevent gun violence. I presented my research regarding Second Amendment jurisprudence across the country, and my work was published in the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review. Together, presenting and publishing my research, debating my ideas freely with students and professors in the classroom, interning in the Supreme Court of Virginia, and discussing societal violence on CNN have each played an extremely formative role in preparing me for the next step of my professional and academic careers.“ — Colin Christensen, Class of 2014, Strasburg, Virginia

As a chemistry major with a passion for scientific exploration, Ruthann is working on impressive research that explores the social impact of Alzheimer’s dementia. Her motivation is her grandmother who struggles with the disease. Ultimately, Ruthann hopes that her work may help others who are dealing with loved ones with AD. “As I write about the social effects of dementia it improves my understanding of it, and this contributes to an understanding within the larger community.” — Ruthann Froberg, Class of 2017, Fairfax, Virginia

“Virginia has no shortage of familiar schools with robust reputations. But Emory & Henry, in the colorful hills of the state's southwest corner, does the finest job of them all in producing contributors to society. “The college's magic is no secret: Professors are pros at motivating students and developing talent. Classes are rigorous and small. Support is abundant. And the pervasive spirit on campus is generosity —of time, talent, and knowledge.” — Colleges That Change Lives, 2012 Edition (most recent edition)
