ADMISSION REGULATIONS (UNDERGRADUATE) 2015
IN exercise of the powers conferred under the Memorandum and Article of Association of the International Islamic University Malaysia, the Senate hereby makes the following regulations.
PART I: PRELIMINARY
Citation 1. These Regulations shall be known as the International Islamic University Malaysia Admission Regulations (Undergraduate) 2015.
Application 2. These Regulations shall apply to all international and local applicants for admission into the International Islamic University Malaysia.
Date of Implementation 3. These Regulations shall come into force upon approval by the Senate of the University.
Interpretation 4. In these Regulations, unless otherwise stated:
‘‘AMAD” refers to the Academic Management and Admission Division of the University; “Academic Calendar” refers to one (1) academic year, consisting of two (2) regular semesters and one (1) short semester (optional); or any other academic session as approved by the Senate; “Applicant” refers to a person who applies for admission into the academic programme of the University through the prescribed procedures; “Arabic Placement Test (APT)” refers to the prescribed test by the University to determine the student’s proficiency in Arabic language;
“Candidate” refers to an applicant who is offered a place in academic programme before enrolment; “CFS” refers to Centre for Foundation Studies of the University; “Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)” refers to the sum of the product of credit hours and the quality point equivalent of the grade for all courses taken divided by the sum of all credit hours;

“Deferment” refers to the postponement of enrolment; “Double Degree” refers to a programme which aims to enhance Islamization and integration of knowledge between two disciplines of study; “English Placement Test (EPT)” refers to the prescribed test by the University to determine students’ proficiency in the English language; “Enrolment” refers to the process when a candidate registers as a student;
“Grade” refers to the final grade of a course for one semester based on the total scores awarded for coursework and end-of-semester examination;
“IELTS” refers to the International English Language Testing System; “University” refers to the International Islamic University Malaysia; “Interview” refers to verbal assessment conducted by the University for admission into a specific programme of study; “Enrolled” refers to the time when a person who is offered admission reports to the University to commence his studies as a registered student; “MUET” refers to the Malaysian University English Test; “Constitution” refers to collectively the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the University; “Senate” refers to the University Authority which is responsible for the management of academic and students affairs of University; “Skills” refers to the skills in English or Arabic language, i.e., Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening; “SPM” refers to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia; “STAM” refers to Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia; “STPM” refers to Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia; “Student” refers to a candidate enrolled into the University for a programme of study; “Study Period” refers to the duration of study which is prescribed for the specific programme;

“TOEFL” refers to the Test of English as a Foreign Language; “Transfer of Credit” refers to the applicant’s academic credits for courses taken at other higher institutions, or center of studies which is transferred to his current academic records for the purpose of fulfilling his graduation requirements; “University Entrance Examination” refers to an examination to determine a candidate's suitability for admission into a particular university conducted by any recognized institution or body;
PART II
STUDENT ADMISSION COMMITTEE Establishment of Committee 5. (1) For the purpose of admission to the University for undergraduate programmes offered by the University, there shall be Student Admission Committee established by the Senate
(2) The Committee shall consist of ―
(a) the Deputy Rector in-charge of academic affairs of the University who shall
be the chairman;
(b) Deans of Centre of Studies; and
(c) secretary of the Senate;
(3) If the Deputy Rector in-charge of academic affairs is unavailable to preside the
meeting, he may assign any other members of the Committee to preside the meeting.
(4) The secretary of the Committee shall be any officers from the office in-charge of admission and records.
(5) The Chairman may invite any other officer to attend the meeting of the Committee.
Functions of the Committee 6. Functions of the Committee shall include the following:
(a) To recommend to the Senate any policy and procedure pertaining to
admission of student including tuition and admission fees;

(b) To endorse the recommended and approved list of applicants as a case
may be provided by Admission Committee;
(c) To advise Admission Committee (AC) on the issue related to appeal; and
(d) To deliberate and discuss other matters pertaining to student admission.
PART III: ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates from CFS 7. A candidate from CFS shall fulfil the admission requirements as prescribed by the University and he shall be subjected to the following:
(a) A candidate shall meet the minimum CGPA for admission as provided under SCHEDULE I;
(b) A candidate shall have no pending disciplinary cases at CFS; and (c) Any other requirements as may be prescribed by the Senate.
Candidates with Malaysian Qualifications 8. (1) The Senate shall determine the admission requirements for candidates with Malaysian qualifications which include the following:
(a) STPM;
(b) STAM;
(c) Diploma; and
(d) Certificates issued by other local institutions shall be equivalent to or
higher than the STPM. (2) A candidate with STPM qualification must obtain a minimum requirement of at
least three (3) principal passes including the General Paper.
(3) Admission requirements for candidates with Malaysian qualifications are provided under SCHEDULE II.

Candidates with International Qualifications 9. (1) The Senate shall determine the admission requirements for candidates with international qualifications which include the following:
(a) General Certificate Education (GCE) Advanced Level; or (b) Other equivalent qualifications.
(2) For GCE Advanced Level the candidate shall obtain at least three (3) principal passes (minimum grade D).
Language Requirements 10. (1) An applicant applying to pursue studies in a programme where English is the medium of instruction must fulfill the following language requirements:
(a) Obtained a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based)
or 80 (internet- based) in TOEFL; or
(b) Obtained a minimum of Band 6.0 in IELTS (Academic); or
(c) Obtained a minimum of Band 6.0 in EPT; or
(d) Any other requirements as prescribed by the Centre of Studies.
(2) An applicant applying for a programme where Arabic is the medium of instruction must fulfill the following language requirements:
(a) Obtained a minimum of Band 6.0 in APT and Band 5.5 in EPT; or
(b) Any other requirements as prescribed by the Centre of Studies.
(3) An applicant who does not meet any of the above requirements is compulsory to enrol in language proficiency courses at the University to fulfil the admission requirements.
(4) The language requirements for admission into undergraduate programmes are
provided under SCHEDULE III.

Double Degree Admission Requirements 11. (1) Double Degree programmes may be conducted either through simultaneous or sequential modes.
(2) Simultaneous Double Degree is a programme undertaken concurrently with its major programme based on the approval of the respective Centre of Studies;
(3) Sequential Double Degree is a programme in which an application has to be
submitted within the period approved by the Senate. The students have to fulfil certain credits required for graduation of a Double Degree programme after the exemption/ transfer of credits.
(4) An applicant shall have to apply for sequential double degree programme within
five (5) years after the graduation of his first degree.
(5) Additional admission requirements for candidates applying for double degree in the Architecture programme is provided under SCHEDULE IV.
Additional Requirements 12. (1) The Senate may impose other requirements for the purpose of such admission.
(2) The University, if deemed necessary, may require an applicant to ―
(a) submit the results of his University Entrance Examination (UEE) as a condition for admission;
(b) attend an interview and/or sit for an entrance / selection test, conducted
by the University or its agent; and
(c) submit any other documents or portfolios required by the Centre of Studies.
Application Procedures 13. (1) An applicant must submit a complete application form with the required supporting documents to AMAD within the stipulated duration.
(2) The procedure for application shall be determined by the University.

Closing Date for Applications 14. (1) The closing date for candidates with Malaysian qualifications for the first semester intake is ten (10) days after the release of STPM results or any other dates as prescribed by the University.
(2) The closing date for candidates with Malaysian qualifications for the second semester intake is one (1) month prior to enrolment or as prescribed by the University.
(3) The closing date for international qualification applications is three (3)
months prior to the commencement of any regular semesters.
(4) The closing date for application into double degree programme is as prescribed by the University.
Applicants with Disability 15. Disabled applicants should notify in advance to AMAD the nature and extent of their disability supported by documentation from authorized bodies. Prerogative of the Senate 16. Notwithstanding the admission requirements under Part III of these Regulations, the Senate shall have the right to decide on the admission of students.
PART IV: ENROLMENT
Enrolment 17. (1) A candidate must enrol in person on the date stated in the offer letter.
(2) For the purpose of enrolment, students must have paid all stipulated fees as specified by the University.
(3) Candidates are required to produce the original copies of academic transcripts and certificates for verification by the University authorities; failing which the University may revoke the enrolment.
(4) The University authorities reserve the right to terminate any student from the University or to take an appropriate legal action against them should he is discovered making any false declaration or using forged certificates or documents for gaining entry into the University.
5) The University, however, may allow late enrolment within the first week of a regular semester or within the first three (3) days of a short semester.

(6) Failure to enrol within the specified period may result in revocation of the offer
provided that a written application for the late enrolment is received by the University prior to the enrolment day.
(7) Candidates who enrol during the late enrolment period without prior approval
from the University shall be subjected to a fine for a sum determined by the University. Deferment of Enrolment 18. (1) Candidates may apply to defer their enrolment for a maximum of one (1) academic year. The period of deferment will not be included in the total duration of studies.
(2) Application for deferment is to be submitted to the University prior to the enrolment day. Failure to do so may result in revocation of the offer for admission.
Transfer of Credit 19. (1) Subject to specific approval from the Dean of the Kulliyyah, a student may apply to have his academic credits transferred for courses taken at another Institution, University or Kulliyyah to his current academic records for the purpose of fulfilling graduation requirements.
(2) The maximum number of credits that may be transferred from other institutions
recognised by the Senate of the University is thirty percent (30%) of the total credit hours requirement of the programme of studies as prescribed by Malaysian Qualifying Agency (MQA).
(3) The minimum grade for credit transfer shall be ‘B’ grade or its equivalent and a
good pass.
(4) Credit transfer application shall be done at the point of application for admission or the latest by the second week of their first regular semester with the necessary documents to support the application.
(5) A student shall be on good overall academic standing in his previous candidature.
Fees 20. A student shall be required to pay all the tuition fees and other related academic and non-academic fees as determined by the University.
Registering as Students in Other Institutions 21. A student shall not be allowed to register to study in any other institutions of higher learning concurrently.

Visiting Students 22. A student enrolled in another university may register for relevant courses at the University for the purpose of credit transfer. Amendment 23. The Senate may, from time to time amend, alter, revise, vary or repel any provision of these Regulations.

Minimum average "B " grade in Technology ( Construction, Building Services, Environmental Considerations) courses: AAR 1195 Building Construction and Materials 1 AAR 2193/1295 Building Construction and material 2 AAR 1101/2202 /2203 Working Drawing and Specifications AAR 1292/1293/1294 Building Services 1 AAR 2293/2297 Building Services 2 AAR 3280 Environmental Conscious Design 3. Minimum average "B" grade in Language and Theory courses: LE 4000 English for Academic Purposes AAR 3131 Theory of Architecture 4. Minimum “B" for Quran and Sunnah in Built Environment; 5. Minimum CGPA 2.8; 6. Good aptitude with verbal and written skills (English) including soft skills and attitude in learning, through (i) face to face interview (with quizzes) ,
(ii) essay of 300 words (in English) on the proposed design thesis topic (as attachment to online submission).
