1.7 ADMISSION GUIDELINES

(A) For admission of HSC (Academic) passed students:

First Step :

Normalization of marks : The marks secured in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry under part III of HSC will be reduced to the base of 200 by

converting the marks secured in Mathematics to 100 and Physics and Chemistry to 50 each and then the normalized marks in all the three subjects are added to arrive at the total marks.

Second Step :

Ranking will be made on the basis of total marks thus arrived at after normalization of marks.

Third Step :

Selection of candidates to B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch courses under Management Quota will be made on the basis of the ranks secured by them.

Procedure for Normalization of Marks in the equivalent examinations conducted by other boards of examination.

In accordance with the provisions of Tamilnadu Act No. 3 of 2007 dated 5th March 2007 and G.O. Ms. No. 77 Higher Education (J2) dated 5th April 2007, the normalization of marks secured in the equivalent examinations conducted by other boards will be calculated as exemplified below :

(e.g.) : If the highest mark secured in the HSC examination of State Board of Tamilnadu in Physics is 100 out of 100 and the highest mark secured in the same subject in the equivalent examination conducted by any other board is 90, both the highest marks irrespective of their difference will be deemed as equivalent to 100.

If a student of the other board has secured 60 marks out of 100 in Physics when the highest mark in Physics in the examination of the said board is 90, the 60 marks secured will became equivalent to 66.66 marks as shown below;

100X60 = 66.66% 90

Normalization of marks as shown above will be calculated and then merged to create a common merit list from out of which candidates will be selected rank- wise for admission under management quota.

If two or more students secure the same marks/ranks after normalization, the rank list will be recast by taking in to consideration of the differences in
