Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kalady is one among the top private sector engineering colleges in the State. We launched "Adi Shankara Young Scientists Award 2017" to identify problems faced by people in the society and to arrive at solutions involving school students across the States of India and The Middle East. Our key partners for the mission were The Kerala Start-up Mission, Asianet News, NASSCOM SSC & NASSCOM 10K Startups.The massive project received an overwhelming response. 300 projects from 200 schools from various parts of India, Middle East and Asia went through the seven stages of rigorous evaluation process.100 teams were shortlisted as the finalist.The award ceremony was inaugurated by ISRO Chairman Padma Shri Dr. A. S. Kiran Kumar and a host of other dignitaries like Padma Shri Dr. V. R. Gowrishankar (CEO and Administrator, Sringeri Mutt & its Properties), Padma Shri Dr. Kota Harinarayana (Distinguished Scientist, DRDO), Dr. K. Sivan (Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre), Sri. M G Radhakrishnan (Editor, Asianet News), Sri Akshay Sasikumar (Regional Head, NASSCOM 10K Startups) to name a few. The whole event was covered by our media partner Asianet News.Mr. Shinjul A T & Mr. Sanjay Sudhan (Mambaram English Medium School, Kannur) were chosen as the second runner up for his project on “Waste Management”. Mr. Joyel Varghese (MAMHSS, Koratty) was chosen the first runner up for his project on “Energy Conservation from Human Body”.The winner of the ASYSA 2017 was Mr. Aaditya Chandra Prasanth from Govt. Boys High School, Haripad for his project on “Eco Cook Power”.

The objective of Adi Shankara Young Scientist Award is to recognize the potentialities of promising young aspiring scientists who dedicate themselves to solve the most pressing problems the world faces. This award aims to recognise and reward quality workmanship, inspire scholarship and support researchers to pursue their passion in creating technological innovations beneficial to mankind.Contest StructureUnlike other similar events, here the students have to go through different stages which will transform them into entrepreneurs. From the second stage onwards, a dedicated mentor will work in tandem with the studentsStage 1-RegistrationStage 2- Zeroth ReviewStage 3- Poster SubmissionStage 4- One Minute Idea PitchingStage 5- Prefinal roundSatge 6- Final RoundWho is Eligible?Any aspiring young scientists (students from 8th to 12th standard).
