Act 389 L-SART (Louisiana Screening and Referral
to Treatment)
• 2013 Legislative Session• Allows for courts to sentence defendants to
substance abuse treatment program.• AAHSD - Contract with Probation and Parole to
conduct suitability evaluations and to provide treatment, if ordered by the court.
• Expected to divert 500 offenders from prison per year statewide.
