The Pancreas The pancreas is a large gland
behind the stomach Has two major functionsi. To secrete powerful
digestive enzymes into the small intestine to aid the digestion of carbohydrates, proteins, and fat.
ii. To release the hormones insulin and glucagon into the bloodstream. These hormones are involved in blood glucose metabolism, regulating how the body stores and uses food for energy.
What is it?
When enzymes somehow become active inside the pancreas, they eat the tissue of the pancreas. This causes swelling, bleeding, and
damage to the pancreas and its blood vessels.
