Report on the Expert Talk
A Virtual Expert Talk was organized on the topic “Current Trends and Innovations in
Biological Screening & Role of Zebra Fish in Drug Discovery” jointly organized by KIET
School Of Pharmacy & TBI-KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad in association with CSIR-
Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow on 28th Jan 2021 at Google Meet platform.
The programme commenced with welcoming of Director Sir, Dr. (Col.) A. Garg, Joint Director
Sir, Dr. Manoj Goel, and the Chief Guests of Honour Dr. Aditya B. Pant, Senior Principal
Scientist, System Toxicology & Health Risk Assessment, CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology
Research & & Dr. Kailash Chandra Khulbe, Senior Principal Scientist, Research Planning &
Business Development, CSIR-IITR.
Dean R& D Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sharma, GM-TBI, Dean Academics Dr. Anil Ahlawat and Dr.
Satendra Kumar and Principal, KIET School Of Pharmacy, Dr. K. Nagarajan, all the HOD’s
of various departments and faculty members were also welcomed.
First of all, Dr. Satendra Kumar gave an overview of MOU that’s going to be signed between
KIET Group of Institutions and CSIR-IITR. This was followed by a speech by Dr, Sanjay
Kumar Sharma, Dean R& D on the topic “Possibilities of collaboration.
Then Director Sir addressed the audience and highly motivated and enlightened the faculty
members how they can benefit jointly from this collaboration and can go for joint research
proposals, filing patents and making excellent publications.
Then Professor Research, Dr. Ashu Mittal delivered a presentation where he highlighted
“Collaborative Research Areas” where the joint collaboration with CSIR-IITR can be very
beneficial.
Some of the areas he mentioned were :
Formulation development (Nano formulation based drug delivery, Transdermal
therapeutic systems, multiparticulate drug delivery systems, etc)
Pharmacological and toxicological screening
Phytochemistry
Establishment of newer Zebra fish models for anticancer studies
Computer aided drug designing etc
A felicitation ceremony was conducted before the interactive session with the speakers. All the
dignitaries and chief guests were felicitated with a virtual bouquet as a token of honor and
respect.
This was followed by the session by Dr. Aditya B. Pant, Senior Principal Scientist System
Toxicology & Health Risk Assessment Group CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research,
Lucknow on an overview on current trends and innovations in biological screening.
He started his talk by first summarizing the overall process of drug discovery that how
the new molecule isolated from natural source or synthesized in laboratory reaches the
market, what are the different phases that the investigational molecule has to go through
to finally attain the status of pharmacologically active drug. Further, he also enlightened
the participants for alternate models for biological screening such as algae, drosophila
and zebra fish. Zebra fish is basically used for studying the safety profile of a drug on
the environment.
Dr. Pant was also able to abolish all the misconceptions regarding the Ayurvedic
formulations. He said that according to AYUSH, for preparing the herbal formulations,
the crude drug should be taken from the cultivated plants and not the wild one. The
species should be well defined. The chemical fingerprinting of the plant should be well
established. All the levels of heavy metals, pesticides, microorganisms and aflatoxins
in the plant material should be below that mentioned in Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia
(AP). Moreover, if someone intends to prepare the ayurvedic formulations with the
herbs mentioned in AP and the dose is also same or lesser as that mentioned in AP, then
there is no requirement of the safety studies, During filing Ayurveda NDA, the standard
literature from AP can be attached for the safety profile.
Moving ahead, he discussed that the nanoformulations exhibit passive absorption and
biodistribution in non-targeted organ resulting into biomagnifications in body as well
as environment. Thus the safety assessment of such formulations is very essential.
Infact, the talk captured the interest of the participants belonging to the different streams
of Pharmaceutical sciences as well as those from various engineering branches also.
The session ended by giving Vote of Thanks to all speakers and guests, participants by Dr.
Manoj Goel, Joint Director, KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad.
Total number of participants in the programme : 45
Some of the glimpses of the talk are as follows:
About the Course:- PINE Training Academy was launched by a group of experienced professionals from Semiconductor Industry. Our experts have in depth knowledge about the technical requirements of ASIC, FPGA, Embedded Systems and Verification. The Challenges today faced by the Electronics companies is the shortage of the right candidates for the respective job. Secondly, our Engineering graduates are unaware of the companies in the core Hardware Electronics Companies and therefore fail to leverage the career opportunities with them. At Pine Training Academy our Objective is to reduce the gap between Industry requirements and candidates skill set. Our Mission is to guide our Pre- Freshers, Freshers and Engineering graduates and to motivate them to seek a job and deliver as per Electronic company's requirements. Pine Training Academy is a dedicated Electronics Technical Training Academy which is now open in Ghaziabad. PINE Academy is registered with ADITYA EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY. Pine Academy is a start-up that has highly experienced individuals on the team with rich market knowledge about then Semiconductor Industry. We understand the dynamics and requirements of the industry. While working in the industry we realized that there is a vast gap between the job profile required for the particular job and the kind of candidates available in the market. To bridge this gap we decided to start this academy to train the candidates as per the market requirements. We have been able to forge alliances with other experienced individuals. These highly experienced individuals contribute in the development of our students with their practical and industrial knowledge. Concept of Training - our concept of training is to help student to utilize their own laptop in the training room at their own time. We provide software and HW in the training to test and hone their skills.

The Central and State Governments have taken major initiatives in enhancing public utility and citizen services to improve the Quality of Life. The need for good governance for India's development is widely accepted. Information and communication technologies have a valuable potential to help Indian central and state governments deliver good governance to their constituents. Yet that potential remains largely untapped to date and there are various gaps hindering effective implementation of e-Governance in India. The government has set a vision to transform government functions by leveraging IT to improve efficiency of citizen services. The primary responsibility of promotion and development of MSMEs is of the State Governments. However, the Government of India, supplements the efforts of the State Governments through various initiatives. The role of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and its organizations is to assist the States in their efforts to encourage entrepreneurship, employment and livelihood opportunities and enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs in the changed economic scenario. The proposed discussion will explore various ideas and suggestions to implement e-governance strategies in a time bound frame work in efficacious manner to reform government processes and enable transparency and efficiency in government.
