Compressor shut-off by engine control unit via "AC compressor shut-off" function.
J At basic setting "1" the activation of the AC compressor regulating valve -N280 is disabled as soon as the request is received from the engine control unit. By way of the adaption function the disable of the -N280 due to "AC compressor cut-off" can be suppressed by changing the adaption to"0" (the Climatronic control unit -J255 then ignores the request from the engine control unit). The adaption "0" can be effective, for example, depending on the design of the vehicle and the Climatronic control unit -J255when "hot climate" is coded ex factory.
Upper limit of control current for AC compressor regulating valve -N280. J At basic setting "0" the control current for the AC compressor regulating valve N280 is limited according to the coding of the Climatronic control unit -J255. The adaption must (can) not be changed. If, for example, „2,0" is entered, the Climatronic control unit limits the control current to 200 mA.
Expanded AC readiness. This adaption cannot be changed by Service in Climatronic control units -J255 fitted at start of production (introduction pending). J At basic setting "0" the activation of the AC compressor regulating valve N280 is disabled as soon as the ambient temperature is lower than about +2°C (below -8 °C if a request for "automatic recirculated air" mode is received from the air quality sensor -G238). So the evaporator does not ice up at low ambient temperatures, the shut-off temperature is raised in line with the evaporator out-flow temperature, the passenger compartment temperature and the operating status of the air conditioner. By changing the adaption to "1" (introduction pending) the shut-off temperature can be lowered to about -5 °C (about -8 °C if a request for "automatic recirculated air" mode is received from the air quality sensor -G238).
Decision-making aid, auxiliary heating/ventilation. J At basic setting "0" (Automatic) the Climatronic control unit -J255 decides, with the ignition off, by way of the measured actual and the preset specifications, whether the auxiliary heater is started up or the system is to operate in auxiliary ventilation mode. J At setting "1" (last function) the Climatronic control unit -J255 always requests the mode last set and activated on the MMI terminal (auxiliary heater or auxiliary ventilation) regardless of the measured and preset temperatures.
Shut-off response, auxiliary heating/ventilation. J At basic setting "0" the auxiliary heating/ventilation mode is maintained until the preset operating time has elapsed or is switched off manually. J At setting "1" the auxiliary heating/ventilation is switched off when the engine is switched off.
Reset all adaption values to the setting as per the coding. It may not be possible to change this adaption in Climatronic control units -J255 fitted at start of production (introduction pending). J At basic setting"0" no reset is performed. J At setting "1"all changed adaption values are reset to the basic setting according to the coding. When the adaption has been carried out in this adaption channel, the readout changes to "0".
Upper limit of air temperature regulation downstream of evaporator. J At setting "10", depending on the setting on the Climatronic control unit J255, the measured temperatures etc., the evaporator temperature can be regulated to a maximum of +10°C (Celsius). J At setting "0 ... 9" the temperature of the air is regulated according to the adaption e.g. to maximum 6°C at setting „6". So the evaporator does not ice up, no value less than"2" may be entered (values below"2" are intended for extreme operating conditions and not permitted in countries with temperate climates).
Display of "sun roof with solar cells" function on MMI. J At basic setting "1" the "solar operation" function is not displayed on the MMI display. Adaption on vehicles with and without sun roof with factory-fitted solar cells. J On vehicles with a sun roof with solar cells the setting "0" can be made on request from the customer. This enables the customer to disable "solar operation". By way of the "Adaption" function (adaption channel "43") the temperature at which the solar function is enabled and disabled can be set.
This adaption cannot be changed by Service. J If it is possible to change the adaption of a Climatronic control unit -J255 fitted at start of production, you must under no circumstances J At basic setting "0" readout is disabled. Intended e.g. in development to display the "Component protection" fault memory entry of the Climatronic control unit -J255.
Fresh air blower speed in auxiliary heating/ventilation mode. J At basic setting "60" the Climatronic control unit -J255 regulates the maximum voltage at the fresh air blower -V2 to 6 V. At setting "30 ... 80" the fresh air blower speed is regulated to the preset value. (e.g. "45" corresponding to 4.5 V). So as not to place excessive strain on the battery in auxiliary heating/ventilation mode (and so cause it to discharge too quickly), no value greater than "60" should be entered.
Enable activation of auxiliary heater via "residual heat" function. This function is only effective in vehicles with an ex factory "auxiliary heater" Vehicles with a Climatronic control unit -J255. "Basic" version are not currently configured for the "residual heat" function. Vehicles with a Climatronic control unit -J255 "Comfort" version. J At basic setting "0" auxiliary heater is not switched on if the Climatronic control unit -J255 is in"residual heat" mode (with the ignition off the "Econ" button was held down for more than about 3 sec. and the engine coolant temperature is inadequate to attain the specified passenger compartment temperature. J At setting "1" auxiliary heating is switched on if the Climatronic control unit -J255 is in "residual heat" mode (with the ignition off the "Econ" button was held down for more than about 3 sec.) and the engine coolant temperature is inadequate to attain the specified passenger compartment temperature.
Enable a retrofitted auxiliary heater. In vehicles with an ex factory auxiliary heater the adaption must not be changed to "1" (the auxiliary heater and the Climatronic control unit -J255 exchange their information over the convenience system data bus) J At basic setting "0" no adaption of the Climatronic control unit -J255 is possible due to a retrofitted auxiliary heater by way of a positive signal. At connector "D" chamber "11" terminal "15" is connected If a voltage is applied to connector "D" chamber "11" with the ignition off, the Climatronic control unit will not start up. J At setting "1" activation of the Climatronic control unit -J255 due to a retrofitted auxiliary heater by way of a positive signal is possible. At connector "D" chamber "11" the signal output of the auxiliary heater is connected. If a voltage is applied to connector "D" chamber "11" with the ignition off, the Climatronic control unit starts up (auxiliary heating mode).
Shut-off of "additional heater" function in vehicles with diesel engine and factory fitted auxiliary heater by pressing "Econ" button on Climatronic control unit -J255. This function is only effective in vehicles with an ex factory "auxiliary heater" In vehicles without the "auxiliary heater" optional extra an additional electric heater is fitted. This adaption has no effect for the additional electric heater. J At basic setting "0" pressing the "Econ" button does not disable activation of the auxiliary heater as "additional heating". J At setting "1" pressing the "Econ" button does not disable activation of the auxiliary heater as "additional heating".
Limitation of time for automatic recirculated air mode and low ambient temperature. If the request from the air quality sensor -G238 is present for an extended time because of unfavourable ambient conditions. This adaption channel is not used on Climatronic control units -J255 fitted at start of production (phase-in). J At basic setting "1" the time for automatic recirculated air mode at an ambient temperature between -1 °C and +10 °C is limited to 30 sec. J At setting "0" the time for automatic recirculated air mode at an ambient temperature between -1 °C and +10 °C is not limited. J At setting "2" the time for automatic recirculated air mode at an ambient temperature between -1 °C and +15 °C is limited to 15 sec. At low ambient temperatures and high humidity levels (such as in fog or rain), the windows may mist up if the vehicle is driven for an extended period with recirculated air mode active.
Display of function "incl. engine" on MMI display. Depending on the MMI version, the "incl. engine" function is not displayed even though it was enabled in the Climatronic control unit -J255 in adaption channel "21" (introduction pending). This function is only effective in vehicles with an ex factory "auxiliary heater" and if programmed on the MMI. J At basic setting "0" the function "incl. engine" on the MMI display is not displayed, even though it has been enabled in the Climatronic control unit -J255 in adaption channel "21" (introduction pending). This function is only effective in vehicles with an ex factory "auxiliary heater", if so configured on the MMI. J At basic setting "0" the function "incl. engine" is not displayed on the MMI display. - In auxiliary heating mode the coolant shut-off valve -N279 is activated via a characteristic stored in the auxiliary heater control unit in such a way that the passenger compartment is warmed up as rapidly as possible. J At setting "1"the function "incl. engine" or "engine preheating" is displayed on the MMI display. The setting "1" can be made at the customer's request. By way of the setting "incl. engine" on the MMI the customer can decide, in auxiliary heating mode, to warm up the engine along with the passenger compartment. The coolant shut-off valve -N279 is not activated, so warming of the passenger compartment takes correspondingly longer.
Adaption of fresh air blower characteristic. J At basic setting "0" the fresh air blower -V2 runs at the speed assigned to that coding. J At setting "1" the fresh air blower -V2- runs at a somewhat lower speed across the full characteristic line. J At setting "2" the fresh air blower -V2- runs at a somewhat higher speed across the full characteristic line. J At setting"3" the fresh air blower -V2- runs at the speed agreed for the USA across the full characteristic line (in some areas at somewhat higher speed. The settings "4" and "5" are currently not permitted (no characteristic stored).
Adaption of temperature characteristic. J At basic setting "0" the Climatronic control unit -J255 regulates the temperature to the values assigned to this coding. J At setting "1" the temperature in Winter is regulated to a somewhat cooler temperature characteristic. (characteristic for cold climates). J At setting "2" the temperature in Summer is regulated to a somewhat cooler temperature characteristic. (corresponding to the characteristic stored for the USA coding). The settings "3", "4" and "5" are currently not permitted (no characteristic stored).
Run-on time for activation of the valves in the pump valve unit after ignition off. Activation of the valves (heat regulation valve, left -N175 and heat regulation valve, right -N176) for a specific time after ignition off prevents hot coolant flowing into the air conditioner heat exchanger. J At basic setting "2" the valves are maintained in operation for 20 sec. after ignition off by the Climatronic control unit -J255. J At setting "0 ... 180" the valves are maintained in operation for the preset time after ignition off (e.g. 80 sec. at setting "8").
Time until shut-off of the coolant circulation pump if the speed falls below the value shown in measured value block"53" (e.g. if the pump is not moving freely). J At basic setting "5" the pump is maintained in operation for 5 sec. by the Climatronic control unit -J255 (before being shut off and a fault being stored). J At setting "0 ... 255" the pump is maintained in operation for the preset time (e.g. 10 sec. at setting "10").
Intended for activation of the air ionisation module -J707 by the Climatronic control unit -J255 in "recirculated air" mode. J At basic setting "60", in fresh air mode the air ionisation module -J707 is activated at approx. 60 % of maximum output. J At setting "0 ... 100", in fresh air mode the air ionisation module -J707 is activated at the entered speed (e.g. at 40% at setting "40").
Intended for "Comfort" spec Climatronic control unit -J255 to change the specified air humidity value (introduction pending). J On "Comfort" Climatronic control units -J255 fitted at start of production this adaption is not operative (introduction pending; but the value must still not be changed). J On "Basic" version Climatronic control units -J255 not operative. But the value must still not be changed.
Activation of "recirculated air" function with windscreen wiper in "wipe/wash" mode. The adaption channel is only used with Climatronic control units -J255 as from software number "0070". The adaption channel is not used with Climatronic control units -J255 up to software number "0060" . The air conditioner is switched to recirculated air mode when the windscreen wiper is in "wipe/wash" mode. J At basic setting "0" the air conditioner is not switched to recirculated air mode when the wipe/wash switch is pressed. At setting "1" (may be made at the customer's request) the Climatronic control unit -J255 switches the air conditioner to recirculated air mode as soon as a request for windscreen wiper wipe/wash mode is received over the data bus system.
Duration of readout of specific air conditioner setup functions on the MMI display, e.g. temperature setting, air distribution (in air conditioner "comfort" version). J At basic setting "10" or "5" (depending on the Climatronic control unit -J255 and on the production period) the relevant air conditioner function is displayed for 10 sec. or 5 sec. on the MMI. J At setting "2 ... 200" the relevant air conditioner function is displayed for the preset time (e.g. 20 sec. at setting "20") on the MMI. On Climatronic control units fitted at start of production the value "30" can also be adapted. Change it as appropriate to "10". If the relevant function button on the Climatronic control unit -J255- is pressed a second time, the MMI display immediately switches back to its main menu.
Duration of readout of specific setup functions (e.g. via the "Setup" function on the air conditioner "comfort" version up to model year 2008) on the MMI display (e.g. Econ). J At basic setting "10" or "30" (depending on the version of the Climatronic control unit -J255 and on the production period) the relevant air conditioner function is displayed for 10 sec. or 30 sec. on the MMI. J At setting "2 ... 200" the relevant air conditioner function is displayed for the preset time (e.g. 20 sec. at setting "20") on the MMI. On Climatronic control units fitted at start of production the value "30" can also be adapted. Change it as appropriate to "10". If, for example, the "Setup" button is pressed a second time, the MMI display immediately switches back to its start menu.
Adaption of air flow to windscreen in Summer at "Auto" setting of Climatronic control unit -J255. In "Auto" mode cooled air is routed to the windscreen in Summer. Under certain circumstances this may cause condensation to form on the outside of the windscreen. If the coding for "USA" or "Japan" is entered, the adaption"1" is in force. J At basic setting "0" the air flow is routed to the windscreen based on the setting for the prevailing ambient conditions in the Climatronic control unit -J255. J At setting "1" activation of the Climatronic control unit Climatronic control unit -J255, a lower air flow is routed to the windscreen (the defrost flap and the flap for indirect ventilation are almost fully closed).
Adaption of air flow into footwell in cooling mode (Summer operation). J At basic setting "0" the footwell flaps are closed in cooling mode. At setting "1" the footwell flaps are open slightly in cooling mode (about 20%, a small flow of air is routed into the footwell).
Shut-off temperature for "solar operation" function. At low ambient temperatures, condensation may form on the windscreen in solar operation (the fresh air drawn in by the fresh air blower is heated up in the air conditioner unitand absorbs moisture as it passes through the evaporator which then condenses again on the cold windscreen). J At basic setting "48" the "solar operation" function is shut off at an ambient temperature below 8°C(Celsius). J At setting "0 ... 120" the "solar operation" function is shut off according to the preset ambient temperature (e.g. 0°C at setting "40"). The adaption value is calculated as follows: Specified shut-off temperature in °C + 40 = adaption value (e.g. 8°C+ 40 is 48).
Time within which the temperatures specified for the basic setting, display group"003", must be reached. J At basic setting "36" or "60" (depending on the version of the Climatronic control unit -J255 and on the production period) the specified temperatures must be reached within a maximum of 180 sec. (or 300 sec with adaption "60") (36 x 5 = 180 sec.). The preset time should not be changed (if the presettings are not attained under normal ambient conditions there may be a fault). In unfavourable ambient conditions (such as very high ambient temperature and high air humidity) it may be necessary to increase the engine speed during the basic setting to around 2000 rpm (or extend the time to maximum 300 sec.) for the specified values to be attained. At setting "0" no basic setting is possible in display group "003". At setting"1 ... 254" the default time is between 5 sec. (at setting "1") and 21 min (at setting "254"). At setting "255" the basic setting runs without time limit until the ignition is switched off (input not permissible).
Time within which the temperatures specified for the basic setting, display group"004", must be reached. J At basic setting "12" the preset temperatures must be reached within a maximum of60 sec. (12 x 5 = 60 sec.). The preset time must not be changed (if the presettings are not attained there is a fault). At setting"0" no basic setting is possible in display group "004". At setting"1 ... 254" the default time is between 5 sec. (At setting "1") and 21 min. (at setting "254"). - At setting "255" the basic setting runs without time limit until the ignition is switched off (input not permissible).
Temperature difference between the left and right sides which must be attained in the basic setting, display group"004". J At basic setting "10" the temperature difference must be at least 10°C (Celsius). The preset time must not be changed (if the presettings are not attained there is a fault). At setting "0 ... 100" the presetting is between 0°C (at setting "0") and 100°C (at setting "100"). If an excessively high value is entered (e.g. above "20") it may be that the basic setting cannot be successfully completed, so do not change the basic setting value.
Display of temperature setting on Multi Media Interface (MMI). Vehicles with a "comfort" spec air conditioner as from model year 2007 (phased-in). Depending on the coding and the adaption of the Climatronic control unit -J255, when the temperature knob is turned the setting is not always be displayed on the MMI. J At setting "5" (currently on all vehicles except for USA) the temperature setting is displayed on the MMI when the temperature knob on the Climatronic control unit -J255 is turned. J At setting "0"" (currently only intended for USA) the temperature setting is only displayed on the MMI when the temperature knob on the Climatronic control unit -J255 is first pressed briefly.
Adaption of daylight driving lights The daylight driving lights adaption function is necessary when the -With daylight driving lights selectable via MMI- option was selected when recoding the control unit. Because then the default state of the daylight driving lights in the various country variants in the Audi A6 has to be changed from On to Off.
Adaption of rear wiper The rear wiper adaption function is necessary if the rear wiper is to automatically wipe the rear window as soon as you engage reverse gear while the windscreen wipers are in operation.
This regulates evaluation of the consumption signal in % , which is preset by coding (default: 100% consumption = adaption value 100), and thereby corrects the readout on the on-board computer. Valid values are 85% - 115%. The consumption signal transmitted by the engine is modified by the preset value. In this way, deviations from the actual consumption can be corrected. The correction influences the momentary consumption, average consumption, range and tank indication in the reserve zone. Example: Adaption 110 = increase in consumption by 10%.
In the event of a service case occurring (centre display shows "SERVICE!") the adaption channel 2 contains the number "1" indicating a due service (mileage limit reached). The service interval is reset by the following inputs: I Set adaption channel 2 A to 0 The reset automatically resets the relevant channels to 40 (mileage), 41 (days) and 46 (total consumption) for petrol engined cars and 47 and 48 (thermal loading) for diesel engined cars. General rule: The oil grade (adaption channel 45) is to be set before the interval limits, followed by the remaining ESI adaption channels (42-49).
I km/mileage reading/10 e.g.: 5000km on dash, 500 in adaption channel (in case of mileage coding in miles) Note: Adaption of this channel by vehicle self-diagnosis must be carried out by way of the access authorisation function "13861". Import of the kilometre reading from the old dash panel insert into the new one is linked to the following conditions: The odometer in the new dash panel insert must show less than 100 km. It is only possible to enter a kilometre reading greater than 100 km. If the dash panel insert is coded for miles (Great Britain and USA), the input must be in miles. After an incorrect input further attempts are possible, until a distance of 5 km has been exceeded one time following the first change. An incorrect input after 5 km may mean the unit is no longer usable. YZ The vehicle's kilometre/mileage reading can be determined retrospectively from the
maintenance tables, service booklets or repair history.
I Radio clock synchronisation time Vehicles with PR number are fitted with an external radio clock module in the rear bumper. With adaption channel 19 the synchronisation time can be set, with the value "0" corresponding to "no radio clock fitted". In vehicles with radio clock, the value should be set to "20" for a 20-minute synchronisation. With the first battery voltage the connections to the receiver module are checked in test mode. The check status is displayed in measured value block 2 at the 2nd position. The synchronisation time can be adapted from 0 to 50 minutes.
I Tank characteristic (fuel gauge sender 1 - G, for front-wheel drive and Quattro vehicles) Parallel shift of tank characteristic by +/-32 Ohms by arrow keys on VAG tester Correction: -32 ... -2 -1 0 +1 +2 ... +32
Value in channel: 96 ... 126 127 128 129 130 ... 160
I Wet calibration This is used to inform the dash panel insert unit of the tank content on initial fill-up. With the first terminal term. 15 On the dash panel insert unit corrects the current measured fuel gauge sender resistance to the litres figure in this channel.
This regulates evaluation of the consumption signal in % , which is preset by Various warnings, such as the oil pressure warning (at 1500 rpm) are linked to engine speed thresholds. In order to configure such settings in a variable way, the engine speed threshold can be altered in 250 rpm increments. The basic setting is 1500 rpm and can be adapted with an offset of max. 1000 rpm.
With this function the Oil Min warning can be activated and deactivated when the oil level is low. At present this warning is permanently present for all vehicles, however. This function can only be executed following prior input of the LOGIN with "13861". The activation/deactivation is effected in adaption
channel 38.
I Non-recordable tank volume The volume not recordable by the fuel gauge sender is notified to the dash panel insert via this channel. Before the initial fill-up is entered in channel 31, the dead volume must be entered.
I Full calibration This channel is specially for service cases in which the tank gauge needle on the dash panel does not reach the full indicator when the tank is full. Correction of the tank gauge indication is started by the input value "65535". In this process, the characteristic is not shifted in parallel as in channel 30, but above a readout 1/2 the characteristic line is elongated upwards or shortened. So in the lower range, specifically as from the reserve mark, the readout remains unchanged. The output value is 0 (value in tester is 128). The elongation can be varied by ± 16 Ohms (value from 112-144).
I Distance driven since inspection in 100 km increments This adaption channel (channel 40) counts the kilometres (miles) following a service, or starting from 0 km. The display is in units of 100 km. The possible input range is between 0 and 2000; that is: 0 - 200000 km, or 0 and 1250: 0 - 125000 miles.
I Time elapsed since inspection in days In adaption channel 41 the time as from the last service inspection is displayed. This channel counts the days passed following a service or from the first time the battery is connected at the factory. The display is in units of one day. By way of this channel the time limit for the extended service intervals (ESI) is calculated.
I Minimum kilometres in 1,000km increments In adaption channel 42 the min value of the kilometres driven is adapted. This channel corresponds to the minimum possible distance in an exchange interval (unit: 100 km). For units with mileage coding the value is shown in miles. Adaption channel 42 can be adapted for the Audi A6 2005 > from 8000km/5000 miles up to 15000km/9000 miles. K Group 1countries are adapted at 15000km/9000 miles. K Group 2 countries are adapted at 8000km/5000 miles. YZ USA vehicles are adapted with 10000 miles. Canada vehicles are adapted with 15000 km
I Maximum kilometres in 1,000km increments In adaption channel 43 the max value of the kilometres driven is adapted. This channel corresponds to the maximum distance which can be driven in a service cycle (unit: 100 km). Adaption channel 43 can be adapted for the Audi A6 2005 > from 8000km/5000 miles up to 30000km/19000 miles. K Group 1 countries are adapted at 30000km/19000 miles. K Group 2 countries are adapted at 8000km/5000 miles. YZ USA vehicles are adapted with 10000 miles. Canada vehicles are adapted with 15000 km
I TOG fitted YES/NO (TOG = oil level/temperature sender G266) This channel determines whether the TOG sensor is fitted in the dash panel insert or in a different control unit (e.g. the engine control unit). Depending on that setting, the diagnosis of the sensor is then deactivated. At present the sensor is fitted in all vehicles. The channel can only be altered after entering an access authorisation function with "13861".
I Maximum time interval in days In adaption channel 44 the max value for the days is adapted. This channel corresponds to the maximum drive time which can be driven in a service cycle The display is in units of one day. Adaption channel 44 can be adapted for the Audi A6 2005 > from 365 up to 730 days K Group 1 countries are adapted at 730 days. K Group 2 countries are adapted at 365 days. YZ USA vehicles and Canada vehicles are adapted with 365 days.
I Oil grade 1 for vehicles without Longlife function 2 for vehicles with Longlife function General rule: The oil grade (adaption channel 45) is to be set before the interval limits, followed by the remaining adaption channels. The following sequence must be maintained: 45A43A42A44A49 or 45A42A43A49A44 for the FSID (Flexible Service Interval Display).
