There are three areas that are absolutely vital for educators, but are not given enough space or time to reflect on carefully: marking, metacognition and memory. In this practical workshop, we will demystify each of the three complex areas and explore common misconceptions about what they involve. An hour on each area will involve exploring the educational research and arriving at practical strategies that can be implemented straight away in our settings. What should be the kind of feedback we prioritise giving our students? What should educators know about how the mind works, and what will help our students retain information? What is metacognition and how can it help our students to reflect more meaningfully on their learning? Arriving at answers to these questions will help us to both improve in our work with young people, and use our time more efficiently and effectively.

His aim is nothing less than to transform the experience of being a 21st century teacher and parent and in the process help every child achieve his or her potential.
In this 3 hours interactive workshop we will provide teachers with practical tools to build student well-being using research from neuroscience. We will also explore what neuroscience tells us about anxiety and how using this knowledge we can help our students to grow the resilience necessary to truly succeed. We will also be looking at what the neuroscience of learning and memory teaches us about how to construct better learning experiences for our students to support their progress. We will also explore motivation and will power as a skill in the brain
