2012 - 2013 SEASON

P L A Y H O U S E

Welcome to Act II Playhouse, an intimate, professional theatre in downtown Ambler. Every seat is comfortable, and close to the action. Act II is the perfect place to meet your friends or take your family for an afternoon matinee or an evening show. And thanks to Ambler’s superb restaurants and shops, a trip to Act II makes for a terrific outing.

Every show in our 2012-13 season will entertain you. Here’s what new Artistic Director Tony Braithwaite has to say about the seven shows making up our 14th season:

September 4 - 30, 20124 Lads from Liverpool is not just another Beatles tribute band. The members are experienced, professional musicians of the highest caliber and watching the live show will transport you back in time. The show takes you through an epic journey that begins in the early days in Hamburg, Germany and the Cavern Club in Liverpool, then fast forwards to the Sgt. Pepper-era and beyond. Paired with an amazing multimedia experience, you get to see, hear and feel how it all got started.

A one-on-one lesson in jazz, hip-hop and ballet and why working at the barre is not quite as much fun as working at the bar. A moving and self-effacing comedy, Why I’m Scared of Dance by Jen Childs is about turning the choreography life gives you into the dance that only you were meant to do.

Today, Jack seeks a meeting with the man he paralyzed, hoping for a chance at redemption. In his way is a young attorney … and a secret that may destroy them both.

Lend Me a Tenor is a madcap screwball comedy that takes place when Tito Merelli, the fiery-tempered and world famous Italian superstar, goes missing just as he’s to make his debut with a local opera company. As the show's presenter (played by Tony Braithwaite) conspires to cover for Tito's absence, placate his hot-blooded wife, and distract his passionate fans, chaos on a truly operatic level ensues!
