Help a Hero Heal
Some battles are not fought on the battlefield. Our soldiers and their family members need our help. The past 10 years of conflict, often involv-ing multiple deployments and extended separa-tions, have created unprecedented stressors. Some soldiers or family members turn to alcohol and drugs to help them cope. We are committed to ensure that no member of the Army Family has to face the challenges of dealing with sub-stance abuse alone. As the stigma of seeking treatment for sub-stance abuse and co-occurring disorders has de-creased, more soldiers and family members are coming forward to seek help. We have a critical shortage of counseling psychologists and social workers to provide treatment. Now more than ever, we need civilians to step up and lend a hand to those who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedom.
