What You’ll NeedMaterials:• Card stock: 110lb is best but photo
quality cover stock works quite well (and is what I
use).• Glue (white glue, glue stick, and rubber cement or spray
adhesive). Just about every hob-
byist has a glue preference bordering on religious zealotry.
Mine is Elmer’s Craft Bond Tacky Glue for everything except
laminating large surfaces, which calls for an Elmer’s dry glue
stick or Elmer’s No Wrinkle Dual Tip Glue Pen.
• Liquid refreshment.
Tools:• Scissors. NOTE: most of the cuts can be made with
scissors. Scissors are faster and some-
what safer than hobby knives, as old scars on my hands testify.
Most professionals pre-scribe hobby knives, but parents (and we
not-so-dextrous adults) have to clean the blood and mend the
accidental cuts. Or . . .
• Hobby knife. Indispensable for precise cutting and some
compound curves. HOWEVER, if you’re going to use a hobby knife,
consider the Olfa knife available at many DIY stores, as it is
substantially superior to ordinary hobby knives.
•
Scriberforcreasingfoldlines.Adryfinepointpenworksquitewellforthispurpose.•
Straight edge (preferably a metal ruler). Flip it over so the cork
pad is topside.• Tweezers for folding small parts or using as a
vise.• Inexpensive paint brushes and tooth picks to apply the glue
and a margarine tub of water to
clean your brushes. (The lid serves as a palette for the
glue—some modelers recommend using a pad of Post-Its as a
palette.)
•

MASUYA HEAVY INDUSTRIES ASSAULT COMBAT SHIP ACS-117,
REMORAHaving proven itself in its primary mission of transporting a
squad of armored space-suited rangers to boarding operations
against enemy capital ships and space stations, the ACS-117A is now
being offered in multiple configurations to provide a mix of
vehicles necessary for small and large scale operations, including
opposed planetary landings.
Four Tomoiya re-entry shield generators can be attached to the
engine nacelle hard points so the ACS-117A can carry either a squad
of armored troops or a platoon of unar-mored soldiers onto thew
planetary surface.
The ACS-117B is a gunship designed to support operations in
space. Mounting two dual weapon turrets on the forward hard points
and two plasma cannon on the rear hard points, the ACS-117B is the
perfect accompaniment to a force of ACS-117As. Its fire power can
overcome defenses on dreadnought class ships or orbital stations.
In spite of many requests, Masuya Heavy Industries cannot provide a
version of the ACS-117B with four plasma cannon as there is no
powerplant with sufficient output that would fit the ACS-117 frame.
However, many forces equip the ACS-117B with six dual weapon
turrets (on the four nacelle hard points and two upper hull hard
points) giving a skirmish-ing capability against enemy
fighters.
The ACS-117C is a missile carrier giving assaulting forces a
heavy stand-off fire support capability. The pods can be
automatically reloaded from missile cans inside the ACS-117C hull,
allowing the ship to carry to total of two reload cans for each
missile pod. That’s a total of fifty four missiles. Of course, the
ACS-117C hardware and software can manage mixed loads, giving the
force commander extraordinary flexibility.
Neither the ACS-117B nor C retains the ability to carry troops,
but their value as support ships more than makes up for the
loss.
Although rarely encountered, the ACS-117D command carrier can be
easily identified by its four dual weapon turrets and plethora of
antennas along the upper surfaces. No longer does an assaulting
force commander have to ride blind in a standard troop carri-er.
The ACS-117D retains the ability to deliver the five person command
staff to a target alongside the ACS-117A troop carriers.
While Masuya Heavy Industries of course deplores violence, we
are, however, proud to point out that Tria Nguyen, daughter of
Masuya Heavy Industries CEO Phan Nguyen-Gomes, was rescued by two
ACS-117As and one B carrying twenty Strike Force Rang-ers to a
successful assault on the Frobisher Complex. Victory speaks for
itself.
