The Marching Cavaliers were crowned Class AA Grand Champions at the Western Carolina Tournament of Bands. The Dorman Marching Cavaliers competed in the 2011 State Band Directors Association (SCBDA) 5A Marching Championships. During the preliminary round the Marching Cavaliers received a Superior Rating in prelims and earned a place in the finals. In finals, the Marching Cavalier's scored another Superior Rating on their way to a sixth place finish. The Marching Cavaliers competed in the United States Scholastic Band Associations’ National Championships held in Annapolis, MD delivering their best performance of the year earning another Superior rating and finishing 7 th in the country. The Dorman Indoor Drum Line earned 1st place at all local and regional contests attended including: Carolina Indoor Performance Association (CIPA) Percussion Scholastic Open Class Champions and WGI Regional Open Class Champions The Dorman Drum Line was an Open Class Finalist at the 2012 WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH - finishing in 5th place. The Dorman Drum Line was also selected as the “Fan Favorite” from the finals competition. The Dorman Color Guards earned numerous awards this year, culminating with the JV Guard finishing in 4th Place at the CIPA Circuit Championships. The Dorman Concert program continues to flourish with four All State and twenty-one Region Band members. The Dorman Wind Ensemble earned an Excellent Rating and the at the SCBDA Concert Festival. The Dorman Jazz Band was selected to perform at Spartanburg’s Jazz on the Square. At this year’s Solo and Ensemble Festival, Dorman students were awarded ninety-five Superior Ratings. The Dorman Band earned the SCBDA's highest honor, the Outstanding Performance Award, which is earned through achievements in marching, concert and small group events throughout the year. Band The Dorman Marching Cavaliers had another successful competitive 2011 season. The Marching Cavaliers were crowned Class AA Grand Champions at the Western Carolina Tournament of Bands. The Dorman Marching Cavaliers competed in the 2011 State Band Directors Association (SCBDA) 5A Marching Championships. During the preliminary round the Marching Cavaliers received a Superior Rating in prelims and earned a place in the finals. In finals, the Marching Cavalier's scored another Superior Rating on their way to a sixth place finish. The Marching Cavaliers competed in the United States Scholastic Band Associations’ National Championships held in Annapolis, MD delivering their best performance of the year earning another Superior rating and finishing 7th in the country. The Dorman Indoor Drum Line earned 1st place at all local and regional contests attended including: Carolina Indoor Performance Association (CIPA) Percussion Scholastic Open Class Champions and WGI Regional Open Class Champions The Dorman Drum Line was an Open Class Finalist at the 2012 WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH - finishing in 5th place. The Dorman Drum Line was also selected as the “Fan Favorite” from the finals competition. The Dorman Color Guards earned numerous awards this year, culminating with the JV Guard finishing in 4th Place at the CIPA Circuit Championships. The Dorman Concert program continues to flourish with four All State and twenty-one Region Band members. The Dorman Wind Ensemble earned an Excellent Rating and the at the SCBDA Concert Festival. The Dorman Jazz Band was selected to perform at Spartanburg’s Jazz on the Square. At this year’s Solo and Ensemble Festival, Dorman students were awarded ninety-five Superior Ratings. The Dorman Band earned the SCBDA's highest honor, the Outstanding Performance Award, which is earned through achievements in marching, concert and small group events throughout the year.
