2.1 Will be able to describe one genre, or film cycle, and their forms and conventions.

3. Demonstrate general understanding of visual, audio, and technical codes in film texts.

3.1 Will be able to describe some visual, audio and technical codes used in one sequence from a film.

4. Will be able to show a general knowledge of screenwriting and storyboard.

2.2. Identify if these conventions are used effectively, using vocabulary related to film studies.

3. Understand the conventions of, and choices available to, stage production.

2.3. Describe a stage version of the story, using the terminology of the stage such as use of the proscenium arch and other formats, sound, lighting, casting, participation of the audience, etc.

1. Show awareness of how news is created and distributed in the digital age.

1.1 Discuss and illustrate their understanding of the news production, i.e. news values, plus its dissemination through digital media, i.e. the internet, and digital broadcasting. This will be demonstrated through their selection and discussion of relevant examples, plus their understanding of how news has been shaped by new media communications technologies such as Twitter.

2. Show knowledge and understanding of the ownership of the news media, and the arguments relating to and arising out of ownership.

2.1 Will be able to identify two or more examples of media organizations and their range of cross-media ownership. They will be able to explain a range of arguments relating to the issues of implications of ownership of the media, i.e. the exertion of power and lack of editorial freedom.

3. Demonstrate awareness of different legal constraints and regulations relating to the news media.

3.1 Will be able to show knowledge of the role of the Press Complaints Committee plus evaluate the effectiveness and limitations as a regulator, plus other relevant laws, such Defamation, Human Rights Act, and their use in controlling the press media.
