Cure Leukaemia was established in 2003 to give blood cancer patients rapid access to pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses in major leukaemia centres to deliver world-class clinical trials. This highly effective delivery model has transformed the speed at which groundbreaking clinical trials of new drug and transplant therapies can be assessed, and in the process, given patients for whom standard treatments have failed, access to potentially life-saving drugs. Due to a lack of funding for much needed specialist research nurses it is deeply frustrating that fewer than 10% of patients in the United Kingdom have access to these pioneering new treatments. Supported clinical trial delivery to more than 3,000 patients. Leveraged over £30 million in free drugs from global pharmaceutical companies. Taking Our Relationship To The Next Level

As a charity we have a proven track record of securing and maintaining corporate partnerships with companies including Deloitte, Pinsent Masons, KPMG and Brewin Dolphin. The opportunity to partner with Deutsche Bank over two years would transform the long-term sustainability of the charity, not only from a fundraising perspective but also would allow us draw upon the skills and expertise of the company’s workforce.

Deutsche Bank’s primary contacts would be our CEO James McLaughlin and Head of Corporate Partnerships Jackie Kelly, but all five of the Cure Leukaemia team would be fully committed to working with Deutsche Bank in London and Birmingham to ensure the partnership’s success is maximised. To ensure we maintain the day-to-day running of the charity, we will create three new additional roles within the organisation.

Since 2015, Cure Leukaemia has been the chosen charity for ‘Dragon Boat Birmingham’ sponsored by Deutsche Bank helping to raise in excess of £200,000.

Having worked closely with a number of Deutsche Bank employees in Birmingham we now believe we have developed an understanding of the ethos and values of both the company and its staff and we would be thrilled to extend that working relationship to a national level.

Let’s Get Social

To ensure Deutsche Bank employees are kept fully up-to-date with all the latest news on the partnership, we will create a dedicated Deutsche Bank/Cure Leukaemia website and app to include:

• Regular video features from key clinicians, nurses and patients across the various centres who are benefiting directly from the funds raised.

• Up-to-the-minute information on all fundraising activities and how employees can participate.

• The opportunity for employees to provide feedback on the partnership and submit suggestions for new ideas and initiatives.

• A running total of the partnership’s fundraising.

Providing A Legacy For The Future

Our CEO and soon-to-be newly appointed Chairperson will work in conjunction with key Deutsche Bank employees to ensure the true progression of Cure Leukaemia through the formulation of a long-term strategic plan.

Initiatives we would look to collaborate on include:

• Securing at least a further two, new national charity partnerships of a value equal to or greater than £2m.

• Formulate and advise on a new, streamlined and integrated database management system to improve our fundraising potential and overall efficiency.

• Identify and appoint two Deutsche Bank employees as new Trustees of the charity by the end the partnership’s first year.

Five-Star Fun – Target £500,000

Glynn Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen The best Friday night out in Birmingham’s social calendar will come to London with Michelin-starred chef, TV personality and Cure Leukaemia Trustee Glynn Purnell. Glynn (1 Michelin Star) would invite his friends Tom Kerridge (2 Michelin Stars) and Sat Bains (2 Michelin Stars) for a 5 star, live cooking experience with a menu overseen by the greatest chefs in the land. It would be a night that no-one would want to miss!

Cycle With Chris Froome OBE Three-time Tour de France winner and undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest cyclists would offer an experience that any cyclist would treasure. 30 places would be available to join Chris for an exclusive day in the saddle before a private dining experience with the Olympic Bronze medalist.

“ I thoroughly enjoyed working with James, Jackie and the Cure Leukaemia team when they were chosen as the Birmingham office’s charity partner back in 2013. I was struck by how such a small team could deliver a variety of events throughout the year whilst maintaining the partnership to such a high standard. As a result, our 700 staff took the unprecedented decision to extend the partnership for an additional year.”

Chris LoughranVice Chairman, Deloitte UK

“ I urge all the staff at Deutsche Bank to vote for Cure Leukaemia because I guarantee I’ll bring the biggest names in culinary world to London for a 5* night to remember!”

FRIDAY night

Wax For A Cure – Inspired by the ‘ice bucket challenge’ staff would be encouraged to wax a part of their body in recognition of hair loss being one of the major side effects experienced by patients battling leukaemia.

The ‘Money Can’t Buy’ Auction – We will produce a bespoke website packed full of amazing money can’t buy auction items.

Strictly Come Deutsche - We will look to organise an exclusive event with 2016 Strictly Come Dancing finalist Louise Redknapp. With Deutsche Bank staff having the opportunity to waltz or tango the night away. Will we see a Birmingham or London couple take home the coveted glitter ball trophy?

Fun And Easy Fundraising – Target £250,000

We would encourage a minimum of 1000 staff to donate £10 a month by registering for payroll giving. This inclusive initiative alone has the potential to raise £240,000 across the two-year partnership.

All who are registered will be entered into two monthly prize draws giving staff 48 opportunities to win the following prizes over the two years:

Free Flight Friday – The lucky winners will receive two airline tickets to a location in Europe.

Ticket Time Thursday – The lucky recipients will take home two tickets to the biggest live music, comedy, pantomime or sporting events in the UK.

We will also compile a monthly calendar of events including fashion shows, music quizzes and family fun days along with the more traditional fundraising activities such as skydives, running, cycling and walks for employees to participate in.

Deutsche Bank Champions Awards

We value every single penny raised for the charity and in recognition of the efforts of Deutsche Bank’s staff we will hold a dedicated Deutsche Bank Champions Awards ceremony annually.

Deutsche Bank and Cure Leukaemia

The partnership has the potential to help save thousands of lives whilst bringing us closer to ultimately finding a cure for all blood cancers. It will be a partnership based on employee engagement, integrity, fun and creativity. This combination, alongside a professional, passionate and dedicated team of five employees from Cure Leukaemia will ensure that together, we can deliver the most successful Deutsche Bank Charity of the Year partnership to date.

Blood Cancer Awareness Month – Target £250,000

September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month and we will organise a variety of fundraising activities for the whole Deutsche Bank workforce to participate in, for example:

Inclusive Events To Excite And Engage

We believe we have a winning formula to ensure all our events are fun, innovative, engaging and ultimately maximise their fundraising potential. Working with Deutsche Bank’s staff, we would deliver a varied events calendar to excite and engage with not only your employees but also the company’s extensive client base.

We will draw upon a number of our well-known supporters to participate in our events. Former England and Crystal Palace footballer, blood cancer survivor and Patron of Cure Leukaemia Geoff Thomas has strong links to England football manager Gareth Southgate and cyclist Chris Froome. We would also look to include BBC broadcaster Adrian Chiles, singer Sam Bailey, England cricketer Chris Woakes and Premier League footballer Ben Foster.
