Why Build Now?
Town Hall MeetingJanuary 23, 2011
• Let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them. (Ex 25:8)
• According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle (Ex 25:9)
2
Why Build: To Glorify God
• tabernacle =
• Sanctuary = place
of holiness (to be set apart)
3
• See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within tent curtains (2 Sam 7:3 )
• ACC is almost 30!! It’s about time we have a dedicated sanctuary with the proper worship environment
• God deserves nothing but the best from us
• I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar (Ex 29:44)
• Now on the day that the tabernacle was erected the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony (Num 9:15)
4
• tent of meeting = imminence of God
•
tabernacle of testimony = law tablets
Be Visionary• Austin will continue to grow in the next 10
years• 80% capacity of Taylor Hall is reached now for
Mandarin congregation (280); space can become a barrier for our growth
• We need to evangelize and make disciples in parallel with making sure our facilities do not become bottleneck in the coming few years
• New Sanctuary can also hold large evangelical meeting and community events
Why Now: Excellent Timing• Much lower cost to build now than later
– Lower construction cost due to poor economy– Very low interest rate for church bond
• Momentum is there and growing– Master plan done successfully – Design fee raised above target (300K in hand)– Enthusiastic and committed team
• Real good potential to have the financial and commitment for the planned building– ACC is debt free and financially strong– Total 2010 building fund raised: $479.87K
