With brand new Academic Co-Chairs, Sam Anderson-Been and Sam Rymer, the Wednesday night study tables are just as lively and full of teamwork as usual. Both Sams are seniors and well experienced in the BCM Program, so they are more than able to pass down some of the “tools of the trade” they learned along their way in classes. The new leadership for BCMentors is striving for student success through the development of a few new iniaves in the study tables pro- gram. These include: • Weekly course updates for BCM 112, 175, 285, and 380. • An organized binder and file system to archive all pracce and prepa- raon materials for the courses reviewed in the BCMentors study tables. • An organized and structured seang arrangement for students at the study tables (by course), including private Teaching Assistant tutoring available at the study tables. • One-on-one tutoring availability outside of the regular study table hours led by the Co-Chairs, as well as small group organizing when necessary. A new Academic Gmail account for communication and student requests/suggestions BCMentors is led by students - for students - and the continued success that we share is due to the collective efforts of all. Academics cademics cademics THE MENTOR September 2013 BCMentors Sponsors Two Wyandoe Elementary School FIRST Lego League Teams First off, what is Lego League? The students on these teams have to build a robot that accomplishes certain missions and also complete a research project. They then compete against other teams at their qualify- ing event. The two Wyandoe Teams will be compeng in the Purdue Qualifying Event held in the Armory on Saturday November 16th, 2013 and the event is open to the public. If you would like more infor- maon please go to firstlegoleague.org. This semester BCMentors has taken on the challenge of sponsor- ing two new Lego League teams at Wyandoe Elementary school. BCMentors is providing mentors for the two teams. We have also built a second pracce table, so each of the two teams can have their own pracce field. Kelehut Construcon graciously donated the money needed to build the table.
