As lifestyles in the city of Tokyo develops a greater reliance on technology, children raised in urban environments develop a greater scene of apathy towards the current degradation of the natural environment and the potential detrimental consequences this has on the health of both nature and cities. The children’s museum which will be based on the Fuji Kindergarten campus emphasizes the relationships between nature and the city and allows students to dis- cover, through a prescribes sequence of spaces, the importance of maintaining a symbiotic connectionbetween the two worlds.

Following a intensive timber based workshop with Takaharu Tezuka at Tokyo City University, the museum employs traditional Japanese timber techniques to highlight pinnacle moments of the museum. This structural system is combined with a simple material pallet of bare concrete, raw timber finishes and glass to maintain a contemporary Japanese finish, referencing to itsgreater urban context.
