• JANUARY 1, 2014- New Medicaid Adult Group Coverage begins. (No backdating before this date.)

New Medicaid program providing coverage to uninsured residents of Cook County

Marketplace in IL: Overview

Web based, user friendly port for individuals and small businesses to enroll in coverage. Can also access by mail, on phone, or in person.

Enroll in public and private health insurance, as well as access financial assistance to pay for coverage

Marketplaces are only allowed to offer high-quality, qualified health plans that meet a number of standards.

Gives consumers the tools and power to have control over their insurance decisions

Enrollment: The Landing Page

• A central website, currently called the Landing Page, will be the first place to go in order to apply for Medicaid and to enroll in the Marketplace.

• The landing page will direct people based upon their demographic information to either the ABE system to apply for Medicaid (and other state benefits) or the Marketplace (to choose insurance and get financial help to pay for it.

• Lets talk about ABE and the Marketplace systems.

Enrollment: ABE• ABE can be used to apply for benefits other than

medical coverage– Cash Benefits: TANF (Temporary Assistance for

Needy Families) and AABD (AABD (Aid to the Aged Blind or Disabled) Cash

– SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). *Illinois has presumptive eligibility

• Many low-income households you see may not know about these benefits, or don’t know how to apply
