Dr.Chytra Anand, daughter of Innerwheel Midtown President Ms.Uma Anand has won the 2nd Best Film Award at the Cannes International Aesthetic Film Festival, France , held on the 27th and 28th of September 2013 for the film “Pujari Umaa Shankar”. Dr Chytra Anand, the Director of Kosmoderma received the award won in the Practitioner category.

Based on the real life story of the patient Pujari Umaa Shankar at Kosmoderma Clinic, the film was written and adapted for the screen and directed by Abhinav Kamal and Jyotirmoy Barman and produced by Kosmoderma Skin, Hair and Lasers Clinic, Bangalore.

The Cannes International Aesthetic Film Festival is an event within the event. It is meant to broadcast and reward the best aesthetic medical films across the globe.

Midtown extends heartiest congratulations to Dr.Chytra & the entire team!!!

“It was a truly memorable experience, one that I will never forget and will always cherish. The event was very well organised and we were taken care of right from when we checked in to campus the evening prior to the event”

-“The event organised by the Rotary club in

association with SDMIMD and the Bhagwan family was really educative and constructive not only from a student point of view but even as a spectator. It gave us an opportunity to learn and put forward our opinions about politics and the society as a whole”

“After this event, I feel more confident, inspired and motivated. The different views struck a chord with the purpose that was mysteriously assigned- To bring out the shapers of future India.

With motivation from a Bhagwan family member who kept his hand on my head and said – 'You are good, that is the sole reason why you are here', I know that all it takes to be successful is a positive mindset. Being recognized as the Best Lady Speaker was the cherry on the cake. Indeed, this day has been etched in memories for ever.”

Best Industrialist AwardThe distinguished speaker of the day was

Mr.D.K.Venugopalan who was awarded with the prestigious “Best Industrialist “of Mysore city. Rtn. Dr. M.N Bheemesh , Assistant Governor presented the award on behalf of Rotary Midtown. He introduced Mr.D.K Venugopalan as a man who has achieved success with integrity and said that age is no bar for tasting success and gave the examples of Mr.Jamsedji Tata who built the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel at Mumbai after being denied entry to a “Whites only” Hotel. Another example was Nirma soaps whose owner

started off as a salesperson. He opined “Success is when signature becomes autograph”. Vocational Service Director Rtn.N. Narendra brought to our notice that Bosch has acknowledged the excellent performance of Shashwati Plastics and the client list included major auto players in the country. A relative of Mr.Venugopalan took the stage and said that he had strived very hard to contribute to the community and went about his job with “Shradda” and “Manaviyate”. He not only practiced Ayurveda but also Reiki and has been able to successfully de-addict many workers with alcohol addiction through his counselling. Mr.D.K.Venugopalan was modest about his achievements and added that he enjoyed the 15 year association with his partner Mr Keshav at Shashwati Plastics. He said “Only Humans do business but better humans can do better business”. Compassion at work and keeping things simple played a major role in the success of Shashwati plastics adding that there was no form of policing of the workforce. He thanked his family and friends in general, his wife in particular for their contribution. He also acknowledged an invisible force helping him in his endeavors. He concluded his short and inspiring talk by encouraging everybody to “strive to give back to the society what we have received form it at least in equal measures if not more”. Rtn.R.Vishwanath proposed the vote of thanks and was at his humorous best.

Practical InnovationThe FiLIP smartwatch is a combination child-

locator and limited communication device, designed to help parents and children stay in touch.

Created as part of an agreement between Filip technologies and AT&T, the watch's features include location detection, voice calling and direct messaging from the parent to the child. An app on the parent's smartphone controls the FiLIP, which can be preset with five trusted contact numbers. The watch can also be programmed with Safe Zones, triggering an alert if the child leaves a designated area, and includes an Intelligent Emergency procedure that the child can activate by pressing a button for three seconds. Once triggered, the Emergency system will send a text to the parents, active an automatic location beacon and call each of the five programmed contacts until someone answers.
