TWO SKOLKOVO PROJECTS IN DETAILS
Development and implementation of previsualization technology
FilmLanguage is a media/IT solution that will allow content creators to visualize their ideas in real time. Using formalized text as an input parameter FilmLanguage will translate it into 3D animation using semantic analysis and 3D objects library. Using FL directors, scriptwriters and producers will be able to pre-visualize scripts using real-looking cameras, lighting and editing. Thus all experimentation falls into pre-production phase bringing tremendous cost saving during principal photography period. Additionally text visualization technology can be applied in mobile, consumer appliances, defense and other industries.
3D Rendering using cloud technologies
Cloudmach develops a 3D rendering technology based on the cloud computing. It allows creating 3D web applications available for Internet users in a click working on various PCs and mobile devices.
Cloudmach is a platform intended to develop interactive e-learning apps, game apps and apps for virtual meetings. Imagine virtual test-drive of modern vehicles. A customer does not have to stand in a queue to see the exposition, he can visit the web-site and develop his own car design at home or having a coffee with iPad in the nearest café.
SUMMARY OF MACROECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF IT CLUSTER ISSUES
Themes
Closing the gap with IT-mature countries
▪ Foster development of areas that increase IT maturity of the country overall, especially in “social IT” towards information society, that address government agenda
▪ Support areas that impact productivity increase in industries, especially IT-enabled, e.g., banking, telecom, where automation is one of the key factors of industry competitiveness
Rationale Example areas
▪ IT in healthcare and medicine ▪ IT in education ▪ Web X.0 ▪ Financial and banking software
systems ▪ Mobile applications
Enable participation in top global IT trends and innovation
▪ Main global IT trends (e.g., cloud computing) change the IT industry delivery model globally and their adoption is prerequisite to compete in the global economy
▪ Some IT trends are enabling development of other industries (e.g., embedded systems) and their adoption determines competitiveness of respective industries
▪ The world R&D focus is usually on the areas with high disruptive potential. Russia must be part of that step change to remain competitive
▪ Cloud computing ▪ Wireless sensor networks ▪ Embedded systems ▪ Green IT, incl. smart grid
Strengthening existing areas of competitive advantage
▪ Support areas of traditional strengths for IT cluster with advanced, world-competitive “know-how”, market recognition, highly competent resources that could serve as platform for expansion into adjacent spaces
▪ Existing competitive expertise can serve to attract key partners and investors in the IT industry in general
▪ International recognition in few areas raises the prestige of the IT industry as a whole
▪ IT security ▪ Complex engineering solutions ▪ Analytical SW ▪ Virtualization platforms ▪ Advanced search ▪ Image, video and speech
recognition and processing ▪ Advanced electronics

1, 2, 3, 4 – Specific priority area candidates inside the directions are listed on the next page
Focus area
“Long term potential” Highly attractive but requires more capability and infrastructure building
“Lower priority areas” Select opportunities possible but expect less overall deal flow in these areas
“No regret areas”: Relatively higher probability of success, can be leveraged to support other areas
“Higher priority areas”: Expected to have highest proportion of high potential project proposals
