HISTORY OF ITC

• 24 Aug1910 – ITC incorporated under the name of 'Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited'.

• 1925 – ITC’s Packaging & Printing Business Division was set up as a strategic backward integration for ITC’s Cigarettes business.

• 1974 – The Company's ownership progressively Indianised, and the name of the Company was changed to ITC Limited (Indian tobacco company).

• 1975 – The Co. launched its HOTEL BUSINESS which was named ‘ITC-Welcome group Hotel Chola’.

• 1979 – ITC entered the Paperboards Business by promotingBhadrachalam Papaerboards Limited, which today

has become the market leader in India.

• 1985 – Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd.

2. The Golden Peacock Innovation Award 2004 for e-Choupal.

3. The 'Golden Peacock Global Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Emerging Economies for 2005'.

4. ITC Maratha at Mumbai was declared to be the Best Luxury Hotel of the Year 2002, by the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India.

5. The National Tourism Award 2004-05 to WelcomHotel, Delhi under the category - Best Eco-Friendly Hotel.

• Like Ashutosh, Over 3.5 million e-farmers in 9

states across the country are raising a better

crop and earning fair rewards. Thanks to ITC e-

Choupal. This is just one of the many ways in

which ITC expresses its belief that country must

come before corporation.

• Thousands of poor farmers are being assisted by

ITC to convert their wastelands into profitable,

quick-growing, high-yielding plantations. ITC

provides them the entire package of know-how.

Nearly 65,000 hectares have been transformed

by planting more than 265 million saplings.

Creating employment potential for over 600,000

rural poor. This is just one of the many ways in

which ITC expresses its belief that country must

come before corporation.

• Today Khazana Devi looks beyond her domestic

chores. Like her, nearly 11,000 rural women are

contributing to their children’s education and health.

ITC is proud to have empowered them with

vocational training and entrepreneurship assistance.

This is just one of the many ways in which ITC

corporation.

• Mahima Jyothi is a bright-eyed village girl for whom

school is no longer a distant dream. ITC is proud to

support 76,000 children in rural India. Providing

uniforms and books, improving school buildings,

adding electricity connections, lights and fans and

running over 775 Supplementary Learning Centres.

Helping rural children aspire to a better tomorrow.

This is just one of the many ways in which ITC

expresses its belief that country must come before

corporation.
