UPES encourages students to conceptualize and carry out activities in the form of clubs to facilitate all round learning. E-360, The Club Economics is the pioneer club in this direction.

“E-360”, the Club Economics, was inaugurated by our Chief Patron, Pro Vice Chancellor, PVC Prof. G.C. Tiwari.The idea of having an exclusive entity dedicated to promote
knowledge among students about the world of Economics. E-360 was conceived under the able guidance of late Dr. Mukul Khanduri. His tireless work for making this idea to germinate into something so fruitful shall always be respected by all.

The first event conducted by E-360 was the article writing competition on the topic “Is India Moving Towards Being a Mixed Capitalist Economy?”

To tap out the creative side of the students E-360 held a poster making competition. The theme given to the students was “Money Makes the World Go Round”. To everyones’, surprise the participants out rightly proved that students of all three colleges are very creative with colors.

Shortly after the poster making competition and the article writing competition, the extempore competition was held on topics such as - Developed countries should cancel the debts of poorest nations, Nuclear power is the best way to meet the ever-increasing energy needs of the planet, Place of Socialist political thought in increasingly capitalized & globalized world etc.

A one day lecture on “Indian Income-Tax” was conducted by Ms. Surbhi Arora, Co-ordinator, E-360, for the students of MBA all streams. It was attended by more than 100 students and was highly appreciated by the students and the faculty. The students’ feedback was very good and they liked the endeavor of the Club Economics in imparting knowledge about subjects not covered in their curriculum. It was attended by Dr.Rakesh Shankar, Dean, CMES and other faculty members.

To make the Teachers’ Day special at UPES, E-360, the Club Economics organized a Collage-Making Competition. The theme given to the students was “My Teacher-My Role Model”. Students of all three colleges enthusiastically participated in the event. The event gave a vent to the creativity of the students. The event was judged by Dr. Rakesh Shankar, Dean, CMES and a renowned artist.

An interactive session on “Current Trends in Energy Sector in the World" was conducted by Dr. Vikas Prakash, Head, Centre Continuing Education, UPES. It was attended by students of MBA(O&G) and MBA(PM). The session was very informative for the students. Dr. Vikas Prakash gave his willingness to conduct such sessions in future for the benefit of the students.

A lecture on “Public Interest Litigation” was organized by E-360, the Club economics, for the benefit of the students of management. The lecture was conducted by Prof. K.L. Bhatia, Professor of Emeritus. Fortunately, we had the pleasure of having the Chancellor, Dr. S.J.Chopra, on that day and he graced the occasion by his presence. Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. G.C. Tiwari, Dr. Shrihari, Dean, CES and Dr.(Cdr) B.M.Dimri, Director, COLS also honoured us by their presence.

A preliminary round of Extempore Competition was organized by E-360, the Club economics. Students of all three colleges enthusiastically participated in the event. The event was judged by Major General Shivrain and Dr. Ratna Banerjee.
THE ROAD AHEAD
The beginning of the next year will be marked by an Economics Summit that will take place in the University. Various dignitaries are expected to attend the summit for which E-360 will provide active support.
